Mexico has a long and colorful history, dating back to ancient civilizations like the Mayans and Aztecs. This country has a diverse cultural heritage, including vibrant traditions, fiestas, and celebrations. Besides its mouthwatering cuisine, Mexico is also known for its colonial architecture and lively cultural scene. The country offers various adventurous activities.

So without further ado, here’s my pick of the top 5 places to visit in Mexico:

Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Madre Mountains, Puerto Vallarta is a picturesque destination with a charming old town and stunning beaches. Explore the cobblestone streets of the Zona Romantica, relax on the golden sands of Playa Los Muertos, take a boat tour to the beautiful Marietas Islands, go zip-lining through the jungle, and enjoy a sunset dinner cruise along Banderas Bay.

2. Playa del Carmen

Visit the stunning eco-archaeological park of Xcaret, explore the ancient ruins of Tulum and Coba, take a dip in the crystal-clear cenotes, go snorkeling or diving in the world’s second-largest coral reef, and browse the vibrant Fifth Avenue for shopping and dining.

The capital of Mexico, Mexico City is a vibrant and cultural destination. Visit the historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and explore its magnificent architecture, including the Metropolitan Cathedral and the National Palace. Discover the impressive pre-Hispanic site of Teotihuacan, marvel at the artwork of Frida Kahlo at the Frida Kahlo Museum, take a boat ride in the floating gardens of Xochimilco, and try traditional street food like tacos and tamales.

Overall, I’d say Mexico is a haven for beach lovers and party enthusiasts. Don’t forget the warmth and friendliness of Mexican people, known for their hospitality. The locals here are willing to share their cultural traditions, stories, and recommendations with visitors. And yes, there are plenty of eco-tourism opportunities, including visiting biosphere reserves or swimming with whale sharks.
