Progress, sure. However, meaningful signs of progress after an outwardly racist, sexist, gay and transgender hating (homophobic is just not enough) administration four months ago are something we are so dang passed.
It’s 2021. Act like it America.
We know racism is something America is not even near tackling since cops are still not held accountable, nor prosecutors and mayors, etc. So let’s gander at something else…
Money. Business. Corporations. Since America loves it’s capitalism and it clearly has run amok, how is the current administration going to deal with it? We all studied the Anti-Trust Act and Standard Oil, clearly those big companies that are hogging everything gotta get broken up so there’s gonna be news on that!
What’s that? Crickets? Total Silence.
Yep, Biden has still not assigned an Anti-Trust person. I mean we know the Amazons and Gates’ of the world are too much and yet the new dude in charge is STILL not doing anything. Not even symbolic.
Which brings me to Merrick Garland, the head of the DOJ who oversaw this BS today:
If you didn’t get the memo that Garland was installed to keep the status quo going, see above. In the NPR piece by Carrie Johnson, it mentions Senators Durbin and Whitehouse (I know lol) who said transparency of the doc was needed to help rebuild trust in the DOJ after Trump.
So that’s a hard no folks. He’s not doing that.

If you thought the guys (Garland and Biden) who went to school and worked with so many people in business and politics that would be affected by actually digging into DT and Co were actually going to do the hard thing, you know the thing they studied and swore to do, to uphold principles of goodness and be courageous, you’d be wrong.
Even the good white guys are not.
Non-Sequitur alert: Maryland is “incentivizing” people to get a vaccine with cold hard cash. AKA bribing. First winner announced today. “To incentivize Marylanders to get the COVID-19 vaccination, the Maryland Lottery will award one vaccinated person per day a $40,000 prize..”
How America is that? Saving your life is not good enough. Here’s cash.
