We are fast approaching Apple announcing their newest smartphone design, There are rumors galore of what this phone will have and not have. Here is a list of rumored features that the upcoming iPhone 12 could *Hopefully* have.
120 Hz display
Many android devices can be seen out in the wild with this display. before 120 Hz, most phones had the refresh speed of 60 freshers each second. With 120 frames a second the experience on the iPhone could become amazing and new again. Apple has this technology in its iPad Pro, so we know that they can do it. They just need their battery to handle it.
There have been leaked photos of iOS 14 betas that reference “Enable High Refresh Rate”.
The technology seems doable, seeing that there are cheap android phones with high refresh rate screens.
5G Connectivity
Yes, yes, you have heard all about 5G. It seems that every new phone needs to be labeled “5G” just so people can notice it. Even though 5G is not mature yet, we expect Apple to come out with at least one version of the iPhone 12 with 5G connectivity.
Folding Display
Apple coming out with a folding phone is very unlikely, but it doesn't hurt to hope. Apple most likely has a folding phone in their lab somewhere, But knowing Apple they will wait until the technology is proven to work well before they jump on that ship and sell their own folding phones. Plus selling folding phones could eat up their iPad sales. So even though I would love the idea of having a folding iPhone in my pocket next year, I will probably have to wait.
3 Cameras and a lidar sensor
Just like the newest iPad Pro, the iPhone 12 pro will probably come with the same set of cameras. 3 cameras like the iPhone 11 Pro and a lidar sensor to help with AR.
4 Different Sizes
There have been leaks and rumors that there will be 4 different models of the next iPhone. 12 mini, 12, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max.
Touch ID + FaceID
With Apple's newest iPad Air, they showed off a device with a fingerprint reader in the power button. Due to recent times, face Unlock has not been as convenient as Touch ID. This could Push Apple to add Touch ID to their iPhones again alongside FaceID. Giving users the choice of which they enjoy more.
A14 chip
Also with Apple, newest iPad Air came the A14 chip. This new chip should allow the iPhone 12 to perform at new levels and maintain its high standards even with the new upgrades like high refresh rate and 5G.
Larger Batteries
All-day battery life is what most people expect from their phones. 5G and screens do come at the cost of draining the battery quickly, Hopefully, Apple will compensate this with giving the iPhone 12 at least a 5,000 mah battery
New Blue Color option
Each year Apple has a new color, this year we expect that color to be a dark Blue.
Conclusion
I am really looking forward to this year's iPhone 12. Even if just a few of these features are added to Apple's next Smartphone I will most likely be picking up one for myself. Trying to guess what the new iPhone will look like has become a fun hobby of mine and it will be really neat to see how many things we get right or wrong at Apple's keynote.
