I Won’t Risk My Life for the University — I Will for My Students
Changes to temporary exemptions for nonimmigrant students taking online classes will force me to “teach” face-to-face.
Whether you are a faculty member, support staff, or student, it’s hard to not feel stressed about the upcoming fall semester. The amount of unknowns for everyone as we enter the heart of the summer is unsettling. Will my classes be taught online? In-person? As a hybrid? For me, my 150-person intermediate macroeconomics class is still up in the air. While many schools have stated that they will hold classes in person, and many others are offering multiple approaches to instruction, the challenges and restrictions at each institution make the semester impossible to navigate.
Universities may need to rethink their fall plans due to a new threat issued by this administration — one that continues to signal to our international students that they are unwanted.
