Safe Fun. Did we know this would be a phrase?

In August, I wrote a piece about returning to college.

Now, back at college, how do you stay safe AND take care of your mental health — that piece that comes from spending time in a meaningful way with other humans?

My son is now back to school in the middle of Oklahoma state. When he left to return, the number of cases in his county was small, but it is creeping up.

Diagnosis: “positive”

Several weeks ago, students on various sports teams began to be diagnosed. They’ve been enjoying seeing old friends and new, going for drinks and sharing meals…and now, in spite of the fact that the college has mandated wearing masks and so many classes are online, they are getting sick.

Part of the issue is that the small-ish town food-and-entertainment businesses might just die if they close their doors. Realistically, this could mean the death of a…
