Academic writing is getting overrated. Times have changed.

The “Publish or Perish” is now becoming “Post it, share it or Perish”.

With the advent of social networking and blogging platforms, research is taking an enormous but necessary shift.

Researchers have the important role of driving change in society as we know it. Whether is in Physics, Mathematics, or Human Science, our role is to improve our understanding of things and finding truths or refuting them.

But there is no sense in finding truths if we cannot pass on those truths to the people who need them.

This brings us to our main role, as researchers: The dissemination of the truth.

But dissemination of the truth doesn’t consist of publishing complex unreadable articles in inaccessible research journals, only to expect that reputed scholars review and cite our work. This kind of dissemination is only the grease that keeps the Ivory wheel rolling.

I believe — and probably many of you — that research for only the sake of research is worth nothing.
