eLearning or electronic learning refers to any course or program which is delivered through the internet. For example, reading an online article, an eBook, or observing a YouTube video or taking an online quiz all form a part of online learning. It is a formalized learning but to deliver it you don’t require any classroom because it is presented through electronic gadgets like mobiles, computers, laptops, tablets via the internet. Thus learning can take place anywhere. E-learning is not only produced through prerecorded videos but also via live online class, where you can interact with your instructors or educators.

Nothing can replace learning in a classroom but with the advancement of technology, the eLearning system caters to the learning demand of the present generation. Hence it has enormous popularity.

Now let us focus on the benefits of eLearning:

1. Accessibility: The learning system is accessible to students with no geographical boundaries. Sometimes the students need to move from one state or to another state or from one country to another. E-learning diminishes all restrictions and allows students from all over the world to complete their courses. Often the students cannot attend classes because of illness or any other problem. The fear of missing classes will no longer be hampering them because they can continue their classes through online courses.

2. Mobility: The learners are looking for a more personalized and mobile approach towards learning. E-learning is influenced by mobility based technology and the students get their learning materials at any place based on their needs.

3. It is scalable: The educators can virtually teach many students at a time. This new technology helps in educating novel ideas and concepts. It introduces the concepts more quickly and with promptness, the students can adapt those ideas.

4. Saves time: The students can easily access these materials whenever they wish to study. The updated content is delivered and students can learn at any time. There is no fixed time in learning, they can learn at their comfortable time even in the evening and late-night or early in the morning. Online learning saves time because the students don’t have to travel to attend the lectures. You can learn at your own time.

5. Cost-effective: Through eLearning, learning takes place more effectively. It saves a lot of money on behalf of the institution because the travel expenses, accommodation costs of the educators, or arranging classrooms are not needed. Even the learners also save their travel expenses.

6. An effective way of learning: Students can easily learn the content and produce it effectively because many students have improved scores on their results. It is observed that an increased number of students have achieved certifications, mastery, or pass level. The learners can also retain the information in their brains for a long time.

7. Independent learning approach: E-learning helps learners to learn at their own pace. Sometimes students find it difficult to cope up with the strict schedule in a class, but the online courses have an immense advantage in terms of routine freedom. This has a significant advantage for distance–learners who don’t attend regular classes but can incorporate learning in their busy life.

With the advancement of learning technologies, eLearning has been an essential part of the education system. There has been a vast increase in the number of learners. Anyone with a laptop, mobile, or desktop that has an internet connection can access these courses irrespective of time or place.
