Let’s Stop Treating Girls The Way We Treat Trees
Why do we do it and how we can stop it?
We never expect a tree to move from one place to another. Or do we ever think that a tree can produce cupcakes other than fruits or vegetables? I don’t think we ever do it. Because we believe that trees are fixed, unmovable, and cannot do any other thing other than what it is supposed to do. But there is a difference between a tree and a human being. Still, when it comes to girls, we treat them like trees. But why do we do it? Perhaps because society tells us to, perhaps because the world operates like this or perhaps because of any other reason. Regardless of whatever the reason is, this thing needs to be changed. And the way we can change it is by recognizing the individuality of girls and by accepting them as free human beings. But we can do it practically in our daily lives?
If you are a parent and your daughter wants to move to another city for better growth opportunities either personally or professionally, let her go. If you are a school teacher and girls are your students, and you see a girl who wants to climb a tree instead of joining her dance team, encourage her to do it. If you are an office boss and have a female employee who wants to try a new role that is totally different than her existing role, give her permission to do it.
Countless situations occur in our daily lives in which we can play a positive role for girls and stop treating them like trees.
