Kicking her way past a disability into Olympics 2020
It takes an exceptional person to take life by the horns and conquer debilitating challenges. One such person is Brianna Salinaro, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a child, but is now well on her way to representing U.S. in the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.
She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age 1–1/2, and has gone through medical procedures and therapy. Since nine, her therapy of choice was Taekwondo, and she’s fought her way back to regaining her health and self esteem. Cerebral palsy is a disorder that affects movement, but for Salinaro the 2020 Olympics is a way to prove that the disability can be defeated. CP never goes away, but with therapy, people can live much better lives.
There are still many years until the 2020 Olympics, and many tournaments for Salinaro to fight before she qualifies. She’s seeking funds to finance trips and continue training, and the fundraising page is here. Her full story, in her own words, is here. I’ll be tracking her progress, and will have a separate story on her in the near future. In the meanwhile, donate generously.
