This is a quick article to point out what I believe to be some of the best crypto podcasts for gaining perspective. This space is full of so many shills and so much FUD at times, that I think it is essential to listen to the more mature perspectives in the space. Especially while we are on the eve of the Bitcoin Halvening. Many influencers and enthusiasts on social media promise their audiences that they will become rich by promoting obscure projects that may or may not help them to get rich quick. More often than not, by the time the mainstream investor has heard of the latest meme coin to go viral, it is too late to get in. If getting into meme coins is your thing that is…

The purpose of this article is to provide some insight into the more sensible corners of the crypto space and to help investors get some sense of perspective on their investments. After the last bull run, many centralized actors in the cryptocurrency space collapsed and took a lot of retail investor capital along with them. The likes of FTX, Celsius, BlockFi, Three Arrows Capital and the non-centralized Terra blockchain all collapsed during the last bear market. Billions of dollars of investments were lost and the confidence of the general public along with it. Combine that with the actors in the US government such as Gary Gensler and Elizabeth Warren and we have a nice crypto is a scam cocktail that can be stirred up in the mainstream media whenever there is call for it. This puts a lot of retail investors off joining the Cryptoverse and this is a shame because it is not a reputation deserved by the large majority of teams and projects working in the space.

The reality being of course that we are actually a very young corner of financial markets and there are downsides to decentralization. One being that it is hard for us to wean out bad actors in the early going. It is my hope that the podcasts in this post will help you to gain a more grown up perspective of the cryptocurrency markets. These podcasts and YouTube channels provide good insights for the mature crypto investor and the serious minded newbie alike.

NFA Live is a shared project between Benjamin Cowen, Coin Bureau and Digital Asset News who all have their own respective Youtube channels. While somewhat infrequently broadcasted, this trio bring together a lot of knowledge about the markets from their position as seasoned veterans. They speculate on a lot of macro news and data and discuss what it might mean for the respective success of present projects. There is a lot of passive wisdom that comes from listening to these guys talk and I highly recommend their channels individually for keeping up to date with developments in crypto markets. Benjamin in particular breaks down technical analysis of Bitcoin for the lay person such as myself. He also has other videos that are of interest to me personally, such as this video on Cardano. If you do choose to watch Benjamin’s long form content, then pay attention and make sure to take notes because they contain a lot of technical analysis!

Unchained is a podcast hosted by Cryptopians author, Laura Shin. She is a former editor at Forbes and has access to many key figures in the field on a regular basis. In recent weeks, many individuals from Solana and Celestia have featured. The best episodes here focus on the potential ways in which DeFi may be regulated in the near future. The focus is generally a lot more US-centric than NFA Live, but where the US leads with crypto regulations the rest of the world may well follow. There is no in depth technical analysis here but it has macro perspective by the bucketload.

Bankless is another American podcast that has access to a lot of key figures in the space. Recently, they have had access to prominent figures such as Justin Sun from Tron and Tether CEO Paolo Arduino. I find that there are a lot of advertisements baked into their podcast which can be somewhat distracting, but otherwise their crypto content is second to none.

Crypto Trends is the new kid on the block here. It only has eight episodes at the time of research. However, the insight that its hosts Robert Croak and Armando Pantoja have to offer is extremely valuable. A particular episode that I enjoyed in recent times was the Feb 28th episode where they wrestled with the notion of taking profits. I think this is something that investors need to be very aware of when navigating the volatility of the crypto markets during their first bull run. Actually, the idea of regularly taking profits is useful for anyone to grasp. Nobody ever lost money taking a profit!

Crypto Over Coffee offers a lot of clarity of thought that is refreshing in this space. The host, Hashoshi offers the perspective of a seasoned investor in the space. He discusses his thoughts on the market very openly and provides critical insight into the goings on in the space. Of particular use is his general discussion of the mistakes he has made in previous cycles and what to look out for in upcoming cycles. This kind of wisdom helps us to battle test our own approaches to investment and think more clearly about the decisions that we make.

Thinking Crypto is a channel that has access to a lot of key figures in the space. A recent notable guest is Cathie Wood of ARK Invest. But the cast of recent episodes is a who’s who of A-list crypto thinkers in the American space. While another very American-centric podcast, this provides a lot of insight from a top-down perspective. It is good to stay on top of the thoughts of those that work at the big firms. It helps to prevent getting sucked into the mirky depths of crypto twitter.

Blockbytes is lower down on this list that it would have been if I had written this article a year ago. This is because they have not published an episode of their very popular Across The Chains show since around September, 2023. I really hope they bring this back. That said, they still put out some great content and retain robust industry connections with Revelo Intel and the Byte Masons. With frequent guests from these organizations, they are often able to offer good insight into the macro perspective of the crypto market and the perspective of builders in the space. The content from Justin Bebis of the Byte Masons is usually quite useful because he offers insights from a developer’s perspective and blockchains that are emphasizing development in real time. He is very aware of the development landscape on blockchains such as Fantom, Metis, Optimism and Mantle first hand.

Savvy Finance is the final channel on this list. This is a really useful channel for getting exposure to effective commentary on sound bytes from other leading crypto interviews. A lot of commentary from Raoul Pal, Michael Saylor and Lyn Alden is broken down in a very accessible way. Their assertions and outlooks are scaffolded to make them digestible along with breakfast before you leave the house in the morning.

All of these podcasts and channels are useful in helping the viewer and average crypto retail investor become more savvy about the financial decisions that they make in crypto and DeFi. This industry moves very quickly and there are a lot of plays that are happening behind the scenes that we are not all aware of. The key utility of these shows is that they help us to build perspective. They offer us the chance to gain insights from some of the key movers in the markets. Rather than using hype from X posts, Discord Servers or Telegram groups, we are actually given access to the thoughts of some of the most successful investors out there today from a broader perspective. It also helps us to see through the FUD presented in legacy mainstream media that seeks to demonize crypto during bear markets and wonder on in amazement during bull runs. Simply thriving on the awe that comes from the rapid growth and decline of projects based on speculation and volatility.

Paying attention to the quality of information on offer here is really useful to develop behaviours in the market that allow the investor to use crypto investment as a vehicle to building long term wealth. Remaining grounded is essential to avoid aping into scam projects or getting lost in the minefield of NFT projects and meme coins out there. I genuinely believe that the projects that we invest in should be those that can help us to build long term wealth. Take heed of market advice offered here. Invest in blue chip assets. Avoid being drawn into high APR rates in low trading volume pools. Avoid investing into meme coins as the hype is fading. Take profits frequently as you ride the waves of volatility. Stay humble and maintain a long term mindset. Aping into short term hype projects and being exit liquidity for whales and institutional investors is a very easy way to get burned. This is something that none of us want and should all seek to avoid. Stay savvy and build perspective.
