During the past year, there have been significant gaps in cybersecurity for financial services, evidenced by the many recent security breaches in the financial industry. These highly publicized breaches demonstrate that assailants are targeting enterprise-networked servers where business critical applications and sensitive data are stored. The main challenge faced by the financial services industry is maintaining the highest possible performance across applications while ensuring the earliest possible detection of breaches — as well as preventing the exfiltration of sensitive data from the servers.

As the volume and frequency of data transactions continue to skyrocket, it is difficult to maintain visibility into the identification of vulnerabilities inside the network. Organizations need to achieve full control down to the application level in order to effectively apply and update security policies that prevent unauthorized access across the entire network. Financial services industry needs a distributed and active security solution that empowers the enterprise to effectively capture and enforce security policies to rate limit and block malicious traffic before it penetrates the operating system or applications on network servers — preferably without requiring any additional hardware.

This article will discuss the latest development in the information security technology for the financial institution including exchanges and banks. By implementing security solution in network servers, firms are able to gain a new level of production to mission critical internal networks vulnerable to cyber security breaches. With insights, this article will also discuss techniques that the financial services industry can leverage to fight against a wide range of threats, including DDoS attacks, data theft, unauthorized access, hostile intrusions and advanced persistent threats.
