The best flicks for an inspired (yet unproductive) day.

Unplug. Chillax. Enjoy.

Miss Representation

This 2011 documentary deserves a watch (or a rewatch) especially as the election grows near. Keep your ears open for the “fighting fu*k toy archetype” and statistics that will make you reevaluate literally everything.

Advanced Style

I’ve watched a ton of fashion documentaries and most of them are crap, honestly. Very few of them leave you with anything that will make you actually feel better about yourself. That’s where Advanced Style comes in. It’s an anxiety killer for me every time I spot a wrinkle.

Girl Rising

Narrated by Alicia Keys, Anne Hathaway, and Kerry Washington among others, this film tells the stories of nine young women across the globe. It’s pretty much a level nine tear jerker, but totally worth it.

Iris

Looking good, being yourself, and not giving a damn about the “rules” are the themes of this fashion documentary. Minimalists, beware. You might end up being converted.

Erin Brockovitch

I won’t bore you with the details of my deep, spiritual connection to this movie but before any major career move, I revisit the teachings of one Ms. Brockovitch.

She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry

I’m not gonna lie, parts of this doc will make you downright pissed. Chronicling the birth of the women’s rights movement, this film doesn’t leave out issues of race and sexuality within the movement itself.

Breastmilk

If you’re at all squeamish or weird about bodily fluids you’re probably the EXACT kind of person who needs to watch Breastmilk. I don’t want to spoil (see what I did there?) any of the film but there are some really mind blowing facts and perspectives that will leave you scratching your head.

Mona Lisa Smile

This lighthearted flick is part Pleasantville and part Pretty Woman but that’s not a bad thing. Trust me, after binging on these feminist movies, you’ll be DESPERATELY looking for a laugh.

If you like this story give it a heart so more people can see it :)
