A.S Roma Women 2 Lazio Women 2FT

The Roma ladies are currently leading a power shift towards Roma as another season begins. Roma is looking to put together yet another historic campaign. they have won back-to-back titles as they are the team to beat. The last season. They were the hunted and they did not make a difference. They still won the title at a similar point margin from the season prior. Last season they figured out how to beat Juventus consistently. They only lost to them once during the four meetings. In three of those, they did it rather comfortably there have been some changes most notably Roma Captain Bartoli leaving the club At the end of last season. They've continued to upgrade As they hope to maintain their stranglehold on Italian football. They haven't done a lot of work in the transfer market but have done enough to strengthen the depth of the squad as they are set to go for a third consecutive title by large accounts this is one of the most potent attacking teams in Europe collectively they accrued over 100 goals last season looking to do the same. They are top to bottom the most dangerous team in Italy. they will be hunted for A good reason they are just that good. Spugna and the Roma ladies are ready to get a new season kicked off In the opener They will travel to Stadio Mirko Fersini across the street for the third edition of the Rome Derby between Roma and Lazio. For the most part, Lazio has spent time mostly in the second division. However, they have recently put together a decent side and have gotten back to The Top flight. 2 years ago we saw two additions to the Rome Derby Roma winning a 3-2 Thriller with Gilonna scoring the winner at the death of a free kick then in their second meeting it was a 3-0 victory for Roma. The two-time defending Champions have not lost to their crosstown rivals. Lazio at home were want to take Make a point that they can compete with the hunted. As the Rome Derby kicks off their season.

Roma put out a top-heavy team to start the new season. It is vaguely similar to Spugna's typical choices from the last campaign. The only difference is Glionna starting over Evelyn Viens & Hanshaw starting at left back for the outgoing Bartoli. Other than that seeming to be the same team that ripped apart the League last season. Roma wasted no time getting things going. As One could expect from the Champions They moved the ball very effectively dominated possession and were just looking to find ways to break through it. In the 6th minute, Hanshaw set up new captain Manuela Giuliano. She takes an excellent strike dragging her foot across it, but drags it just nearly off distance. The 25-year-old was named the player of the season last season with 25 goal involvements. She has in a lot of ways been the catalyst of Roma. She shows her capabilities early on and appears to be only warming up to this opener. However, just a few minutes later we saw a bit of positive action from Lazio. despite only being promoted this season, they have put together a decent side for themselves and want to prove it against the Champions. In the 10th minute coming off a corner, Camellia Caesar spills Eleonora Goldoni Right in front of go had a magnificent opportunity to get the opener she followed through but hit her effort off the post. Roma eventually managed to clear it out. However, it was only going to last for all but so long before. Roma shows exactly why their Champions and that they're going to be so hard to beat this season. On A corner in the 12th minute Manuela Giuliano sends the ball into the area is a very tight cross near the back post. Valentina Giacinti makes a perfect run hooking it on the front of her head as she drives it into the top left corner As it flies into the back of the net Roma takes a 1-0 lead. Goal number 321 for the Italian goal poacher as she continues to be Roma's biggest goal-scoring threat showing again opening up the campaign again with a goal. Roma is at it again 2 minutes later as they continue to put pressure on their noisy neighbors. In the 14th minute Gilonna makes an incredible run down the flank she then dumps it off to Lucia Di Guglielmo who then supplies a short pass from the center of the box as Manuela Giuliano takes a well-timed strike but the goalkeeper comes up with the save. Although Lazio has looked decently Roma still at this point are the ones that seem to be sending The warning shots. This would only persist as we hit the half hour. mark. 30th minute Giada Greggi sends a short pass through the air near the opposing area Saki Kumagai delivers a backhoe pass. It lands in the space of Manuela Giuliano with the goalkeeper slightly off their line, she uncorks a volley out of the air. It ends up traveling before hitting the top of the post. Another huge chance for Roma. Perhaps she should have taken the ball forward but she tried to capitalize on the spacing. 10 minutes later they nearly scored again. In the 40th minute, Haavi picks it up from inside the box as she drives a low strike towards the bottom corner. it hits off the post and goes across the line but does not touch it Lady Luck prevented another goal only as that was a perfectly hit sequence. Unfortunately, Lazio in the 43rd minute would capitalize off of it. Clarisse Le Bihan makes a nice run as she is defended as she approaches the box. She then chips it and strikes it into the top right corner as Lazio gets the equalizer. The French Striker left the cesspool in Angel City and it's come to Rome now providing them with a cable Striker that could make them interesting this season. This would end the first half with them all knotted up.

Lazio is very lucky not to be behind. The late chance gives them a possibility That they shouldn't even have at this point. Roma honestly could be winning by three or four goals. They hit the post twice and have overall overwhelmed Lazio. however, to their credit, their gifted Striker finds the moment and makes this very interesting heading into the second half. Lazio. They have done very well for themselves in many ways, but also have taken full advantage of the limited opportunities. Very early in the second half. Manuela Giuliano looking to get things back in Roma's favor. In the 49th minute, she collects the ball off of a throw-in from inside the box. She drives it to the right trying to test the keeper but her effort goes slightly wide as Roma comes out sharp. However, the bug of misfortune or perhaps Lady Luck kicks Roma in the mouth shortly after. In the 59th minute, Lazio hits on the break releasing the ball towards Antonietta Castiello As she drives it into the bottom left corner Lazio remarkably takes a 2-1 lead. Roma desperately trying to retake a level of control. They have a significantly better team and it's not even close. Roma would use their assets to their disposal trying to make Lazio as uncomfortable as possible. This may not be the men's, but this is still a Rome Derby with the attention to detail and mistakes going to be escalated. In the 70th minute, Frederikke Thøgersen delivers a cross into the box. Manuela Giuliano hits a bicycle kick only very narrowly missing the target. time however was not on their side. They couldn't possibly lose to Lazio, could they? The Champions cannot allow that to happen. Of course, right on schedule. An element of controversy is hit in the 87th minute. Roma appeals for a handball in the box. On the play in question, It hit the arm in an unnatural position. it is without question the penalty. there's nothing you can say or do about it that could argue otherwise. However, as it stands, there is no video review in the women's game. The only place it exists is in the Champions League. The referee did not see it that way. as a controversial decision, possibly coming at the forefront of drop points. Lazio was minutes away from recording a huge win against Roma. However, in the 94th minute, Elena Linari had other ideas. Roma's goal-scoring center-back takes the ball forward from well outside the box. She hits an absolute rocket from 10 m or so outside of the box into the top corner giving the goalkeeper no chance to save it Roma capitalizes on a Late equalizer as it ends in a four-goal Thriller. Roma may not be relatively happy about the results, but they weren't going to lose to Lazio, not on their watch. the Champions take a point in the derby as it is a draw in the opener.

Roma is hit with a bit of adversity to start the season. In the derby, they nearly lost to Lazio. Not exactly what they had in mind on their road to three consecutive titles. However, it is a derby, and no matter what, when it's Roma against Lazio, it is always much deeper than just 90 minutes of football. Lazio to their credit have some nice players within their team and they capitalized on their limited moments. However, keeping it genuine. They're also very, very lucky. Roma hit the crossbar two separate times and was the better team without a shadow of a doubt. from a Roma perspective, even though they banged one late to earn a point, it is very very frustrating. for them not to be able to brush aside Lazio. There's no reason to be worried at all. Roma is still the best team in Italy and should be the overwhelming favorite to win the title. They're not going to drop very many points. So for all the rest of the teams in the league, this is a time to celebrate. Over the last 2 years, they have barely dropped any significant points away from home, Lazio manages to get a point. It's very disappointing in a lot of ways, especially considering the way Roma dominated the game. Spugna did not use his subs effectively enough. and perhaps a bit more flexibility in the changes could have avoided the ultimate result. There is room for improvement. Roma needs to clean some stuff up, however, there's no reason to panic whatsoever. Valentina Giacinti found the back of the net again. Manuela Giuliano dominated from Midfield. they got a lot of attacking contributions and hit the bar twice. they could have scored maybe three or four more goals, but it wasn't meant to be. Lazio to their credit. did a great job of capitalizing when the opportunities found them. Roma will remember this when they play again and I assure you it won't be pretty the second time around. Linari with an incredible shot to earn them a point. however, their overall performance was strong, just a little bit more clinical finishing in front of gold and this could have been avoided as well as the two times that hit the crossbar. on top of that, the penalty that they were not given in the 87th minute would be a huge talking point had she not banged one at the death. in a lot of ways this performance looked like Roma They will bounce back. It is the first game of the season with plenty of matches left to play. their next three matches are very winnable before the battle with Inter Milan. so within the next couple of weeks they could be sitting on the top of the table. again. these are the Champions. they are the hunted Lazio. may get a bite, but they are still the ones to be feared as the overall result could have been vastly different due to particular circumstances. Roma shouldn't be pleased with how they started the season However, they are still the Champions and one drop point isn't going to derail them. look at the way they dominated Italian football lessons. they are more than capable of doing the same. It is mutually the same team with still having insane firepower little bump in the road maybe but when these girls get hot they're going to be incredibly difficult to stop. they will have the home opener on September 14th against Como a huge opportunity for them to bag a massive three points Even if the opener didn't provide them with the way they would have liked to start the defense of their crown.
