However, on the other side of the coin RB Leipzig have loaded up in the final couple of weeks in the transfer window to push them into title contenders with the possibility of their own right on securing their first ever title in club history. RB Leipzig thrived in the opener in what was a 2-0 victory over Bochum At the Red Bull Arena last Saturday. Last time these two battled it out. RB Leipzig took a two goal lead only for Leverkusen To pull it back and then find the winner in the last few minutes. RB Leipzig have not forgotten that fact and will look for a different result as they will attempt to ruin the home opener to stay perfect

This was going to be a testy affair from the very beginning and that's exactly what it was. In the 6th minute Leverkusen moves it through the air. Alex Garcia digs in before sending a ball into the area Edmond Tapsoba get his head on the end of it but he drives it over the post. A moment later Wirtz picks up a pass from Alex Grimaldo before going on. It would only persist from there. In the 10th minute they won themselves a corner. It is sent into the box again Piero Hincapié gets his head on the end of it driving it into the post! As they deliver a warning shot to Leipzig. Wirtz Hits the follow-up but can't quite get there. Leverkusen with perfection on the line has battled with a very capable Leipzig at the moment still in the driver's seat for another three points. However, Leipzig grabbing the goal at the very end of the first half gave the visitors confidence even with Marco Rose watching it from the stands Leverkusen immediately with a double chance to start the second half. In The 46th minute Martin Terrier is played into a dangerous position after a brilliant ball by Wirtz his initial shot from close range is deflected before striking another only for the same result. In the 54th minute Wirtz with another high quality ball this time to Victor Boniface Hit straight from outside the box deflected again. Wirtz then ripped another one forcing a save by Péter Gulácsi In a lot of ways it looked like they were about to cash in on several occasions. In the 57th minute The front line connect with a beauty Benjamin Sesko delivers an excellent ball for Louis Openda near the touchline follows through with a slight deflection coming off the goalkeeper before it flies into the top corner as Leipzig have erased a two-goal deficit Absolute chaos again! The German playmaker is starting to feel the frustration as he has carried his team through the entire second half. A minute later Álex Grimaldo attempts to do the same as he watches Peter Gulácsi coming up with yet another denial. Leverkusen was running out of time even for customary late drama. In the 93rd minute Amine Adli gets his head on the end of a cross coming from Alex Grimaldo. he drives it wide. In the 95th minute Wirtz looking to come up with the moment! Patrick Schick drives the ball to him their young Superstar gets his head on the end of it but doesn't have the power to complicate things for Peter Gulasci. The invincibility of Leverkusen runs out as they are beaten for the first time since 2022 against Bochum as it's RB Leipzig That delivers the blow! showing their intention of a title race this upcoming season. Leverkusen drop their heads in devastation as silence fills the bay arena at the final whistle.

Leverkusen finally tastes defeat. However, we can't just gloss over what they have done over the past 2 years. Leverkusen Last season won everything other than the Europa League final. They conquered the Bundesliga in dominating fashion blowing by everyone unbeaten in the Bundesliga the only team to ever have done this in German football. It is one of the most ridiculous runs we have ever seen. They did it in dramatic fashion with a lot of late-winning goals that kept them from possibly being beaten! Wirtz Last season was player of the season. Tore the league up as the best Midfielder in Europe last season. They had quality left right and center production from all full backs. Not to mention the strikers both of them lived up to the expectation as they have been one of the truly great teams in the Bundesliga. Leverkusen had never won a title and last season. They conquered it and one of the most dominating fashions possible. Tonight it wasn't meant to be. They were excellent in the first half they looked all of the quality that one could imagine they looked vaguely similar to the way they started last weekend and how they've looked during this dominance. However, as soon as RB Leipzig had a lifeline with that late goal in the first half, the complexion of the match completely unwinded and changed. Leipzig started getting it going with their attacking pieces up front and continued to play well. However, in spite of this Leverkusen had opportunities and chances to get a third goal before The Equalizer and before the winning goal. Wirtz In the second half basically was operating on an island by himself. The German Superstar provided every chance imaginable ran into some great goalkeeping and the rest could not contribute to the same level. Even though they lost, he was the second highest rated player in the match. with an 8.8 rating. He was superb for the first half and the second half. unfortunately he did not get the help or aid that he would have liked. now he knows how Julian Brandt feels every weekend. They lost their momentum a little bit and they couldn't capitalize when the chances were at a premium. Leverkusen did lose to another team that will be challenging for the title. So all that said, I don't think long-term they have anything to truly worry about. This is only two games and they have all the capacity to win the title again. The reaction off of this will be very interesting to see. However, the situation is clear here even though this did happen. Maintaining the title is not out of the question, but this probably needed to happen for them to make the proper adjustments. They go to Hoffenheim after the international break and dominate this could be a reason they've unlocked something. It's not a foregone conclusion, but there still should be the favorites and remain the favorites even in spite of this. okay, the one concerning thing is they've gone off to a two goal lead in two consecutive games. There are certainly things that need to be cleaned up and as it happens on this occasion, the perfect set of circumstances and the perfect opponent was there to end this historic run, but there's no reason to be concerned. On the other side of the coin RB Leipzig look the part and certainly played like it. back-to-back wins to start the season some revenge for the way they collapsed the last time these two teams played. RB Leipzig Should be among the teams fighting for the title. They have never won a title in their history and I know a lot of people dislike them for some reason but the qualities are all there for them to do so. One of the best coaches in the Bundesliga Marco Rose despite getting sent off halfway through the game, his team still rallied came back and did the impossible. three-headed monster they have of Benjamin Sesko, Louis Openda and Xavi Simons is scary Not to mention what they can bring off the bench with the likes of Arthur Vermeeren, Antonio Nusa, Christopher Baumgartner and Yusuf Poulsen. They have a stacked deck and showed that they can be a real threat to the situation They will be back at home against Union Berlin which very well could be another three points they played. This chess match perfectly and ended history as Leipzig crush the unbeaten streak with a 3-2 victory at the Bay area.
