Roma looked to make an impact early on. A clear, clear talent advantage they aimed to capitalize on directly from kickoff. Very early on Roma got themselves on the counterattack. Martina Pandini brought the ball forward with a ton of space. She sends a throughpass to the right side Glionna sends it across towards the left post as Giulia Dragoni puts her foot through it. It ends up hitting the left post as Bologna scrapes to ultimately end up clearing it out in the end. Bologna is on high alert and that very easily could have been the opening goal. The first half comes to a close with Roma holding on to a 2-0 lead as they have their foot in the door for the quarterfinal.
It has essentially been one-way traffic for Roma. As expected, they have been completely in control of it. Even with a slightly weakened side, and many players being rested, they seem to have no problem asserting themselves against bologna. The home side has had a couple of chances but not much that has challenged Isabella Kresche. Roma was guiding themselves closer toward victory. The second half. They slightly took off the gas but still moved the ball around very effectively and looked like they were on the cusp of possibly adding to their lead to kill it off once and for all with a chance of a comeback becoming increasingly small as the minutes ticked on. In the 73rd minute Alice Corelli delivers a cross in the box for Evelyn Viens She takes an initial strike at the goalkeeper. It is saved by Margot Shore However Dragoni was taken down from behind as a penalty was given. With Manuela, Giuliano, Elena Linari, and Valentina Giacinti All resting. Saki Kumagai would step up to take it. The Japanese International has a walking run-up before she speeds up at the end tricking the goalkeeper as she splits it down the middle Roma takes a 3-0 lead. All the heavy lifting had been done. 5 minutes later it occurs again. In the 78th minute, Aaliyah Pilgrim continues to be such a threat this Season as a contributor and one of the most underrated players on the team. She makes a run down the left side opening up, creating just enough space as she sends it over to Alice Corelli As a 20-year-old slides, it into the back of the net Roma takes a 4-0 lead It was starting to get out of hand. In the late stages of the first half with very little time remaining Roma got on the break again In the 88th minute Alice Corelli took the ball through the middle on the counterattack before dumping it off over to the left side Haavi Chase was down the ball before getting taken down in the box. They punched their ticket into the quarterfinals of the Copa Italia as they easily dispatched bologna.
The holders of the Copa Italia stay firm in a dominating victory that moves them on to the next round. Roma has made the Copa Italia final 4 years in a row. They are highly expected to make the final again. It has almost been second nature to the back-to-back League champions that there will be a possibility of adding a piece of silverware to the cup. They have won the Copa Italia twice in the last 4 years and also have lost twice. However, getting to the final seems like it has been in recent years. A foregone conclusion. Roma were just coming off a 5-1 victory on the weekend. It puts them into the top four and within six points of second place. It hasn't been the best season for them in the league. There's no hiding there. Roma also has a big clash on the weekend against Fiorentina. This was a perfect opportunity to give rest to Manuela Giuliano, Valentina Giacinti, Camellia Caesar, and others. Roma played many of the rotational players that managed to contribute. Saki Kumagai wore the armband. Haavi & Greggi Both played, but for the most part, those were the only regular starters who participated from the beginning. It was a great opportunity for the likes of Aaliyah Pilgrim and Dragoni To get a start. They have been in and out of the sign this season but obviously, the two scarlets have been very good this season when given the opportunity. Aaliyah Pilgrim is a huge Talent for Roma and the more opportunity she gets the better she has looked. Meanwhile, Dragoni continues To develop during her loan spell. She still is a product of Barcelona and in all likelihood, she will return to her parent club at the end of the season. However, the development we have seen from her this campaign has been on standing not only for the Italian national team but also for Barcelona as Roma have well taken care of their 18-year-old prospect. Alice Corelli who very seldom gets big minutes was able to contribute in a big way as the 20-year-old is another Talent that Rama has been developing this season. Overall, Roma did exactly what they were supposed to do. They handled their business. They got themselves into the quarterfinals. They rested the necessary pieces so they could be fresh for Fiorentina on Saturday. They will punch their ticket into the quarterfinals as they will play Napoli in the last eight but on this occasion, they put six past bologna on their way to the quarterfinals.
