A.S Roma 2 Pom 0FT
The Roma ladies continue to build what has already been a tremendous campaign. Having to juggle European football and domestic league has not been a problem as they have been on a run and it seems as they’re becoming more difficult to stop as approach the Midway point of the season. Roma are sitting top of the pile coming off a victory over Sampdoria last weekend to keep their impressive run in the league going. However, in the Champions League on Wednesday, perhaps they’re proudest a moment in Europe this season. At home against Wolfsburg one of the European Giants they managed to escape with a point. An early goal from Valentina Giacnti saw Roma take the lead before Wolfsburg fired back but leaving without defeat against one of Europe’s best sides has put them in the right mindset and energy to go win this league as they are in the midsts of keeping the pace and capturing the title. This weekend They would take on Pomigliano at home for the second time this campaign after beating them 2–0 In the opening match day of the season. Roma would look to do the double against them in Rome as the match approached in the capital as a Roma ladies looked to take one step closer to the title on Saturday afternoon.
Roma wasted no time showing their dominance while displaying the qualities that have led them to be leading the league this season. In the opening minute Cinotti delivered a well-timed cross into the box. It was headed out by the defense before being caught by Alves. The Brazilian caught it with her foot. Let the ball drop before striking from deep good power on it but rose up Just nearly missing What would have been a spectacular strike. Roma was in it again, just 2 minutes later in the third minute. It was complete domination by Roma as a minute later. They’re on the verge of scoring yet again. Anna Serturini cuts down into the box goes for another strike on goal. Take the deflection off the defender in front of her right in the space of Lazaro the Spaniard follows through while unfortunately hitting just wide. She didn’t have a huge window but perhaps should have done better on the finish. It was an arsenal of opportunities for the Romans. As they continued to unload the clip. In the 17 minute they found themselves with a pair of chances again. Manuela Guliano arguably the best midfielder in the league this season stung from deep. However, the keeper trapped the ball well making a tremendous save to keep things level. A moment later coming off a corner Lazaro connected on a header freeing up space to linari as she strikes on goal keeper makes it safe. She hits on the follow-up but it can’t get there. The pressure was rising as it felt like it was only going to be a matter of time before they find the back of the net. Kollmats than found Guliano providing a pass for Cinotti as she threads it outside to Anna hits a curler into Lazaro but was blocked by the defense. Cinotti stab from deep saved. Then on the following corner Lazaro got her head on the end of the cross but still pushed it a bit high. Roma continued to soak up the pressure at the majority of the ball and we’re jamming it down the opponent’s throat. In the 40th minute Lazaro as she dribbles forward hits a deep cross into Sophie Haug the imposing Norwegian striker rose up but couldn’t quite direct it. Cinotti Saw another strike from deep safe in the closing moments of the first half. Then in the 45th minute the moment finally arrived be onslaught of Roma chances had been coming from the tip for Roma. Finally breakthrough. Anna Serturni dribbles into the corner of the box and then launches the goalkeeper got a slight touch on it but could not prevent the inevitable as her strike ends up in the top corner as Roma take a 1–0 lead to end the first half. If I’m not mistaking. This is her first goal of the season. Considering the additions that have come in she has had to take a step back but she shows her qualities with a goal at the end of the half.
Roma absolutely assaulted the opposing goal in the first half. They needed to keep the pressure on and finish the job like they’ve been doing the majority of the season. With a victory and a favorable result by Como, Roma would go six points clear at the top. They can’t control what they can’t control but getting the three points would be wonders for their position at the top of the league. Pompeii came close in the 48th minute, just a few minutes into the second half. A very well taken. Free kick forcing Camellia Caesar to react, but they couldn’t quite find the touch in the end going a bit wide. Roma built on their first half performance has they continued to create chances for themselves to kill the game off. They came dangerously close to a second in the 56th minute. Anna picked out a perfect cross into Sophie Roman Haug She got her head on the end of the cross, directed it towards the back post but put a little too much on it. Four minutes later in the 60th minute It nearly could have been over. A poor passing decision from the goalkeeper gives it away as Haug puts it over the keeper’s head; however, the goalkeeper did get a fingertip to it. It was going to end up in the back of the net, If not for one of the defenders who headed it out preventing a second Roma goal. Pomigliano didn’t have much of the ball and Roma were running circles around them, but they did find themselves with a fantastic opportunity. Camellia Caesar didn’t have to do much throughout the 90 minutes, but she came up big when Roma needed her to. Pomigliano were through one goal after a pass sets up the attacker in the box. She strikes but the Romanian shotstopper gives her hands on it. Keeping Roma in front. In the closing minutes Glionna launches in the 88th minute out of this area code In what would have been one of the goals of the season but the goalkeeper does manage to get her hands on it. At the bitter end in The 94th minute Roma finished the job. Manuela Guliano dumps it off to the left wing. Haavi hit a deep curling cross finding her Norwegian teammate. Sophie Haug she follows through on the header right into Giacinti only needing a touch as Roma get their second. It would be the 11th goal of the season for Valentina as Roma are dominant in their 2-0 victory as they continue to lead the charge at the top of the table with the dream of winning the title.
Roma May be at the halfway point of the season, but they very much are taking great strides closer and closer towards mortality. Roma have won seven matches in a row in the league. In addition to that, they have won 12 of 13 in all competitions. The one game they didn’t win was the draw from the Champions League against Wolfsburg. They have been on an absolute this season. There’s no indication that they plan on slowing down anytime soon. Whether you like it or not, Roma is the best team in Italy and have proven it consistently since the start of the season. Not every match has been easy. Roma have had to win late and come from behind on occasion. They are mentally tough. They have the materials to battle through the necessary adversity and they have the most potent attack in the league Roma’s big issue. This season has been clinical finishing in front of goal. However, over the last couple of games they have drastically improved in this area. All of a sudden have built a comfortable lead at the top of the table. Juventus has had an up and down season. Unfortunately it has come at a cost with Roma looking flawless as a group. On Sunday, Juventus had an opportunity to keep the lead at four points. However, Como manages to do the impossible and grabs a point against Juventus. Roma have now opened up a 6-point lead at the top of the table. Roma’s next two games are against AC Milan and Juventus. If Roma can beat both, the lead at the top will become almost impossible to close. Roma has only conceded three goals all season far and away the best defense in the league. Not to mention the productivity were seeing from their attack and their midfield. Roma has so many different weapons that they can use to their disposal. The next two games could very well determine anything. They outplayed Juventus in their loss earlier this season and were a bit unlucky and then against AC Milan they absolutely dominated and deserve the points they got. On Saturday they were unplayable in attack. If it wasn’t for some pretty remarkable goalkeeping they could have scored another three or four goals. Roma are having a season to remember. Anna gets on the score sheet. She has been one of most important players for Roma over the last couple years, but considering the additions that Roma made in the summer, she has had to take a step back. She is still shown her qualities but she’s just not going to get on the score sheet as much. That’s just the reality. However Saturday afternoon she found the back of the net and was inspirational in their victory. Valentina Giacinti also scores again bagging her 11th of the campaign She has been probably Roma’s most important addition as they continue to roll teams over. They have a battle in the cup on Tuesday and then it’s AC. Milan away from home and Juventus at home. Two teams they are capable of beating. They’re still half a season to go, but two victories against those two foes could see. Roma start to taste the glory another outstanding performance as the Romans stay hot with no sign of slowing down.
