Roma continues to be at work in the transfer market. The aim is to close the gap and return to the Champions League. Florent Ghisolfi has been a very busy man since being appointed as Roma’s new sporting director in the summer. During The early parts of the summer When the Copa America and the European championships were going on, we didn’t see Roma as active in the market. However, even during the busy part of the summer, Roma managed to secure some early deals. 16-year-old fullback from Levante Buba Sangaré signed to kick off the summer. Then he used his French connections to orchestrate a deal with Stade Rennais for Enzo Fee Lee For 23 million to address The need for a central midfielder. Then Roma signed a number two goalkeeper Matthew Ryan from AZ on a free deal. However, over the last few weeks, they have been more and more active in the market. Roma has been chasing Juventus Winger Matias Soulé the 21-year-old Winger spent last season on loan at Frosinone He is not in Thiago Motta’s plans. He had been the priority for many weeks. They recently struck a deal with Juventus after the player rejected multiple moves to the Premier League as he only wanted Roma. They eventually agreed to a 30 million transfer that deal is done as it will be announced soon. That should come along later this week. However, Roma did pull off another deal as they added another fullback to a position of need. Roma has been discussing A deal with Djurgårdens As they have been locked in negotiations in recent days. For Swedish fullback Samuel Dahl. They eventually agreed on a transfer worth 4 million. As the 21-year-old signed a 5-year deal, he traveled to Rome yesterday before officially completing his move to Serie A on Sunday. Florent Ghisolfi brings in another edition to strengthen Roma’s position. It will not end there after the arrival and announcement of Matias Soulé later this week, Roma is also locked in the closing stages of a transfer to bring in Girona Striker Artem Dovbyk As the preferred option in attack. The Ukrainian has already signed a 5-year deal with Roma. after he was on the verge of going to Atletico Madrid, he has turned down all deals and is waiting for the negotiations to complete. Roma have recently offered 35 million. It is expected to be completed within the next couple of days. The new sporting director has shown his seriousness for Roma to compete next season Samuel Dahl has arrived in Roma with two more on the horizon.

Story Thus Far: Örebro SK, Djurgårdens IF, Sweeden

Samuel Dahl has only just begun his footballing journey. He started As a very young boy playing For his hometown Club of Västerås In Sweden. He eventually broke through to the first team but only played twice. After making his debut in 2019, he secured a move to Örebro SK. A place where he got real opportunities. He spent two seasons At the club making 46 appearances over that time frame. After those two seasons concluded, he took a little bigger step last season when he made the move to Djurgårdens this is where he got his breakthrough showing all the qualities that have opted for a team like Roma to pique his interest. They are in the middle of the season over in Sweden. They currently are sitting in second place with still about half the season to go they finished 4th. The previous season he spent roughly a full season in the Swedish first division. However, as soon as Roma came calling. he made his desire to go to Italy clear and they very quickly reached personal terms with the player before negotiating an agreement with the club. He is still very young, just 21 years old recently turning in March. He certainly looks like he will be an asset under De Rossi not only because he is a promising talent that will learn a great deal under De Rossi.

Roma’s Sweedish Bulldog

Profile: Very Physical, Quick, Very Good Ball Control, Passing Tendencies Work Rate, IG & Attacking Contributions

Samuel Dahl is a young talent who will continue to develop now that he’s made the big move. Even though he is quite young at just 21 years old. He doesn’t turn 22 until deep into next season. He’ll be fresh and ready just because Samuel Dahl was in the middle of the season when he pulled off this transfer. He already has three seasons under his belt. he has managed to stand out even in a lower league like Sweden. However, Roma is not the only team that thought they struck gold. West Ham United was also reportedly interested in bringing him to England but that died quickly as he prioritized Roma. Roma has a lot of big ambitions this season. many people suggest that they could even be a surprise in the title race. obviously. Roma will not overtake Inter Milan. However, if they can be a part of it at least for part of the season and qualify for the Champions League, it will be an extremely successful campaign. Not to mention perhaps another deep run in Europe. Roma is operating in multiple competitions which will give opportunities for a young player like Samuel to develop and get big minutes this season. This deal made sense from a lot of areas outside of the skill set. One is the full-back position is an area of need. Roma, as of right now does not have a great deal of depth at that spot. although another could arrive with this signing, they only have four fullbacks on the team. For a Serie A side that seems like a small number. So the first thing is Samuel comes in to fill an area of need. it will give him plenty of opportunities to see the pitch given how thin they are in this area. Buba Sangare was also brought in to do the same. However, the difference is Samuel has three seasons of experience to go off of. Now he has not seen the quality that he will be subjected to in Italy but has a very promising skill set that could be very useful to Roma as I see him being able to contribute. His skills are still a little bit raw However, watching him play there’s a lot to like. he is a Swedish bulldog. What I mean by that is very simple He is a very physical player. He is only 5’7 so perhaps he’s not a big big guy physically. However, he brings his physicality through his energy and his work rate. Two areas in which he looked exceptional. Although he does have attacking contributions as a fullback defensively is where he shines. The manner in the way he operates through that left-back position is defensive-oriented. He does a really good job of tracking the ball and using his body very physically to unhinge his opponent. Again from just a physically imposing standpoint, he’s not very big and he’s not very tall. However, he is incredibly aggressive. So many times last season when a left Winger was going up that side. he uses his speed applications making a lot of body-to-body sliding tackles. He’s incredibly smart and can read the play very well. it’s going to have to be tempered a little bit because, given how he plays and the aggressive standard that he puts forth, the timing will be important when putting tackles onto opponents. an inch or so off of what he’s trying to do can lead to him getting booked. So if there is a component of worry, I would say it’s going to come from the way he plays and how to time things perfectly. In Sweden, he’s been able to time things incredibly effectively. However, in Italy, the challenges are going to be a little higher. however, he’s a pretty promising talent if they can manage that aspect left-wingers are going to be very frustrated, especially if he can develop his skill set even further. His athleticism and Pace make him very strong and effective in doing so because he doesn’t have physically imposing gifts, but he does have extreme speed and great movement managing to time tackling perfectly. He’s a nightmare when it comes to sliding tackles. he’s also been able to possess the ball well and be able to control it when it’s at his feet. from an attacking standpoint, he has the necessary tools to be effective too. many times over the last couple of seasons we have seen him put balls across the top very accurately. he has a decent cross on him. something Roma has been missing from that position. we can speculate what his role will be next season, but I think he will find his way on the pitch fairly frequently. He has a great work rate. he is also very intelligent and reads the game well. The weakness we can discuss is the timing of his tackles when he comes to Italy. that would be my number one concern. He’s also not very good when it comes to Ariel balls. However, he is 5’7 so it would be hard for us to expect miraculous numbers on 50/50 balls or balls that are through the air. he has a great defensive skill set with capabilities in the attacking sense as well. he finds space can join the attack and contributes through the air with some fairly impressive crossing. something that Roma’s fullbacks last season struggled with. She adds a youthful practice to the team. He may not be called upon every game but he’ll be ready. He’s done well for himself this far. he recently was capped by Sweden and now he’s ready for the challenge in Rome.

Samuel Dahl: His Role and How he fits with Rome

Samuel Dahl isn’t expected to be the only arrival at the fullback position. De Rossi intense to at least bring one more before the start of the season. Roma is still a little thin at the position. Bringing in Samuel was a smart move both financially and for the team. It only cost Roma 4 million to pull off the deal, which is somewhat of a bargain for a 21-year-old fullback. It also is a good move for the team. As I said earlier, it gives Roma another option of depth at fullback. Angelino Will be the starting left-back this upcoming season. I don’t think there’s any doubt about that. however, Roma will be in three different competitions next season. including the Copa Italia and the Europa League. If Roma ends up doing very well in the league and finds themselves In a strong Champions League position early on. It will open up opportunities for Samuel to get big minutes in the Europa League and the Copa Italia. In the league, I suspect many of his appearances will come from the bench. However, I do see him starting occasionally this upcoming season. the left back spot is locked down but there’s not a lot of depth to back up. Angelina, so if he gets a slight injury or needs to face a suspension, Samuel will likely be called upon. Buba Sangare will eventually break through to the first team next season. maybe from the start. however, I imagined De Rossi isn’t going to throw a recently turned 17-year-old into the starting lineup regularly. However, that said he does play on the right side, and Zeki Celk also plays on the right side. So the left-back position currently only has Angelino & Zalewski As long as he stays. I don’t think it makes a lot of sense for Roma to be selling other fullbacks. So I hope they keep what they have and add another but assuming everybody stays he could likely get minutes on the left side depending on where he sits in the pecking order in regards to Zalewski There’s also the possibility that he could play some matches at right-back given the thinness of the position there’ll be plenty of opportunities for him to see the field. However, I do not expect him to start regularly. He may as the season progresses earn a starting spot if he moves to the right side but as currently constructed I see him As a substitute, but will likely start matches in the Europa League or less important matches. His role in what it will be. this season is not completely defined. However, with that said, De Rossi will find ways to use him this upcoming season. However, it was a smart move to pull off for Roma as they continue to excel in the window as Samuel Dahl officially is a Roma player.
