Roma's objectives are already dead

Roma's Season is turning into a disaster. Despite putting together a squad that should be able to deliver under those guidelines they haven't been able to. They have a very talented squad. There's no doubt about that, however, we're not seeing it in motion. De Rossi gave a shot at it then Juric Is losing his Roma is on the cusp of a third manager and we're not even in January. There's been criticism surrounding the ownership and continues to be so. However, Roma seemed to be at a place of no return. Roma had the necessary tools and players to qualify for the Champions League finally or at the very least finish in the top five. It has been 4 years since Roma has finished in the top five. In the last three seasons, Roma has finished sixth place with 63 points. That's not a joke. They have finished on the same points. Three consecutive Sears. Right now just to get a conference League position they would need to make up six points. The Champions League spot is nine points away. The entirety of this season is over in the Grand scheme of things. If you're thinking about the big picture could Roma go on a run to finish in the top six again and return to the Europa League? That's very possible. Well looking at how everything is evolving, it seems more and more likely that Roma may not qualify for Europe at all. My suggestion from last Sunday seems even more true now. Roma should without question below this thing up. There are a lot of talented players here, but nothing seems to be working this season despite having the quality. There are a lot of new players in this team. Maybe they need more time to gel. However, the initial objectives of the season seem as if it is out Of reach already. Roma brought in last season. One of the best young wingers in Serie A, The top scorer in La Liga, one of the best center midfielders in the Bundesliga, someone who made Champions League Team of the season and has been consistently one of the best center-backs in Germany, someone that spent a decade in La Liga with Athletico Madrid, making multiple Champions League finals and had a very growing reputation with Atletico, one of the best midfielders in France as well as a few more pieces. However, what has all of that gotten them absolutely nothing Roma are worse this season than they were last season. It doesn't seem this is coming to a close anytime soon. Napa is in first place primarily because they're beating all the teams they should. They have dropped points against Juventus and Atlanta and then lost to Verona. But the point is the majority of their points have come up against the bottom half of the table yet they're in first place. If Roma collected all the points against the teams they should have beaten, they would be in first place too. If Roma lost to Juventus and Inter Milan but won the rest of their schedule, they would be leaving the league possibly. Instead, Roma is sitting in 10th place only a couple of points in front of teams in the relegation zone. This is a big problem and I don't have any solutions. Nothing is making sense. They should be doing a lot better than they have and there's no excuse for what we have seen from anyone this season. There were some positive parts of this team and there are some excellent players on this side, but for whatever reason we're sitting in the same situation, and in 2 weeks' time Roma probably have a different manager. The whole season is in chaos and it seems as if we reached the point where the objectives of the season are already out of their reach. Getting to the conference League at this point seems like it is difficult by itself. Roma needs a miracle because despite all the positive things that they have the whole thing has been a disaster.

Roma aren't good enough to overcome refereeing decisions

Roma's positioning this season and the amount that they are struggling is completely their fault. However, after the full-time whistle Sunday night, it is clear that Roma to a degree will need to outperform adversity to get anything going this season. Overcoming refereeing decisions is what great teams do. Roma doesn't seem as if they can do this. They're not scoring at a high enough rate to overcome bad decisions. The defense has been very good but still that in itself will not be enough to overcome bad decisions. For them to improve their situation they will need to overcome and go through the ringer of adversity. Essentially one out of every two games. That is the level of refereeing adversity that they have to contend with. Now. I want to be very clear here. I'm not making excuses for the performances or the amount of points they currently have. In fact, I'm going the other way on this. Truly great teams. Will figure out a way to get through adversity. Juventus may not be contending for the title But they are only three points out of second place. Outside of Roma, Juventus has been on the wrong side Of officiating more than any other not counting Roma. Yet the quality of their team has been more than enough to pull them out and get points. Even when they were blatantly bad calls go against them. They still find the way to get through them whether that means getting a big enough lead so they can't be affected by it or having the capacity to bounce back. This is how bad it's been for Roma. They have not taken a 2-0 lead in any game this season except one. We would think considering some of the players that they have at their disposal that they would be able to do that. So I don't want to make this a big thing about the refereeing but it's clear they're going to need to play at a level so they can overcome bad decisions. So I just want to make it crystal clear Even though we're on the wrong side of a lot of decisions, the fault is their own for not having the team or showing the performances capable of overcoming them. That being said, the Sunday night smash was maybe the worst officiating Roma have had this season and that's saying a lot. Shomurdov pulled from behind in the game against Empoli was not called as a penalty and was not checked, In the game against Monza Tommaso Baldanzi was decked in the box and also stepped on his foot. Not checked, no penalty. That brings us to Sunday. Zalewski scores It was called offside. It was a razor-thin call in the buildup. It was minuscule margins. It's not clear whether or not that was offside or not. That's how close it was. They didn't consult video review despite it being super close. Let's just say for the sake of argument that that's a goal. Does Verona then score a few minutes later? Anyway, probably not. Let's say it wasn't a goal. It is still worth a check. Verona's first goal was perfectly fine capitalizing On Roma's mistake. However, their second goal off the corner Evan Ndicka during the goal, the goal score elbows him in the face. They did review that one because of course they did. Even after review to still stick with the original decision is outlandish. He hits him with his elbow. Not a red card but a yellow one. But that goal is and should be disallowed based on the fact that the goal score hit his opponent with his elbow. That brings us to the last 10 minutes. Dybala strikes it across the line or potentially dead. It's hard to say, but it was a very close call. It looks like the ball crossed the line. To not even look at the play not even review it when there's a potential goal possibility is just insane. 3 minutes later Verona score the winner they take the points. The point I'm making is Roma could have scored an extra two goals. Had it not been for a poor referee. Was it an atrocious referee? Yes, Roma has a right to complain about it. However, the situation that they are in is because they are not good enough to overcome bad officials. Inter can do it, Juventus can do it, Napoli can do it, Atlanta can do it, Fiorentina can do it. Roma can't do it. They are in this situation because they are not good enough to overcome bad refereeing. That's why their intent and some of the other teams I mentioned are well above them. There's been bad officials for all of them. Mostly Juventus and Roma. However, Roma can't fight through the adversity and doesn't have the means to overcome it. That's why they're in this situation and until they can figure that out, they'll stay in this very situation.
