Saint Union Gilliose 2 Royal Antwerp 1FT

On Sunday night we would see Saint Union Gilliose and Royal Antwerp face off on Match Day 16 as the hectic season in Belgium continues to take place. We would be in The marvelous City of Brussels. Known for various things such as Food such as The very famous Belgium waffle and Belgium chocolates. The chocolates have been made in the city since the 19th century. In addition to that It is a great place for art and agriculture. Along with holding a seat in the European Union from a political standpoint as they have been often referred to as The capital of Europe. The biggest attraction the city has to offer is the Grand Place Considered one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Europe, the ornate Grand Place is the center of Brussels, where many historic buildings dating from the 17th century. This evening we would be on the yellow side of Belgium at the Stade Joseph Mariën. Union St.Gilloise After coming very near to the title, the last two seasons struggled a little bit out of the gates. They only recently have cracked the top 10. However, they are starting to ride the ship as they have not tasted defeat since October 27th. However, that said, they only have one victory in their last five League matches despite only losing once over that time. They have been dropping far too many points this season to truly contend for the title. However, the objective Still remains to squeeze into the top six. The visitors currently sit third at the table, although that is not saying much as they are Still sitting eight points out of first place. Nevertheless, They have handled the season this far reasonably well. Royal Antwerp wants to collect as many points as possible to prepare themselves well for the second part of the season. If they maintain their pace, they will have a chance in the second phase to potentially get on a run and put themselves in true contention for the However, only two victories in their last five matches. As it creates a very interesting dynamic between the two sides this evening. As kickoff approaches on a cold night In Brussels Union Saint Gilloise hosts Royal Antwerp At the very condensed and small Stade Joseph Mariën.

Union Saint Gilloise wasn't as raring to go as the crowd had hoped. Inside of 60 seconds, they would have to deal with a level of early adversity. In the first minute, Gyrano Kerk delivers a cross into the box Vincent Janssen sends a strike on goal. Anthony Morris makes the save but it is played right back to him as he takes a touch before sending it into the bottom right corner as Royal Antwerp takes a 1-0 lead inside 60 seconds. Things heavily went into the favor of Royal Antwerp. Especially considering the big advantage they had in possession. Royal Antwerp like to keep the ball trying to eliminate any sort of counter-attacking opportunities or any momentum. Union Saint Gilloise of course was going to have their opportunities On the counterattack eventually, however, given the one-sidedness when it came to the ball they were going to have to force a mistake to get things back on that track. A strange approach, but they were trying to maintain their control. However, they were only going to be able to do this for so long. In the 17th minute, Kevin Mac Allister drives across into the area Loic Lapoussin gets his head on the end of it As he nearly drags it to the right. In the 23rd minute, Vincent Janssen delivered a pass From outside the box as he thought about going forward but then delayed his movement as he slid the ball over to Dennis Praet He struck his shot and collided with the opposing defense. A minute later in the 24th minute Saint Union Gilliose would reply. Franjo Ivanovic digs deep as he squeezes that pass through to the left side Mohammed Fuseini picks it up with ease as he strikes forward A sliding tackle occurs as Royal Antwerp are quick on it. Saint Union Gilliose begins to gain some confidence. In the 28th minute, Sofiane Boufal sends a pass into the box Franjo lvanovic collects it as he drives it toward the bottom corner this one requiring a save from Senne Lammens. In the 34th minute, they gave themselves another chance at it. Mohammed Fuseini sends a pass for Franjo lvanovic The Croatian Striker rips into the ball too much power on it as it flies over the goal. The search for The Equalizer continues to go on. They continued to start to pick it up opening up their attack little by little. In the 37th minute, Loic Lapoussin follows through from outside the box as he tries to Sting it from distance. As the first half was winding down, Royal Antwerp got a free kick in the 45th minute Jacob Ondrejka lifted the ball over the wall but also unfortunately over the corner. In the 5th minute of stoppage time Saint Union Gilliose Got themselves a free kick Sofiane Boufal delivered a ball into the box Kevin Mac Allister made a run into a dangerous position as he got his head on the end of it putting it right down the middle. Saint Union Gilliose finally finds their equalizer as they level it as time expires in the first half. Royal Antwerp & Union Saint Gilloise have a big 45 minutes ahead.

Quite a contested exchange between the two sides. Both have had their moments but neither has established themselves as in the driver's seat. The approach from Royal Antwerp after the goal seemed a bit strange. However, for the most part, they've taken advantage of the possession and on the other side Union Saint Gilloise have looked dangerous when they've had opportunities even if they have been limited. In the 48th minute, Union Saint Gilloise looked to build on what they did in the first half. Sofiane Boufal delivers a cross into the box Ross Sykes gets his head on the end of it he collides with the Royal Antwerp defense. Loïc Lapoussin strikes on the follow-up as it is blocked The ball is then directed back into Kevin Mac Allister with the header but he is saved by Senne Lammens. In the 49th minute, Saint Union Gilliose was reduced to 10 men. Koki Machida fouled Vincent Janssen while Royal Antwerp was pushing forward. An incredibly soft foul a slight push if even that. However, the referee decided it was still worth a second yellow card as the Japanese Winger had to be removed unjustifiably. Tjaronn Chery struck the free kick over the wall as it splits right over the corner coming. Very close to a huge moment for the visitors. Despite being reduced to 10 men Saint Union Gilliose Still looked very fluid in the attack. In the 53rd minute, Mohammed Fuseini supplies an accurately placed pass into the box Promise David From close range is denied Senne Lammens getting his hands on it. Just a few minutes later, they continued to put pressure on the opposition defense. In the 57th minute, Anan Khalaili puts a ball in a complex area as Mohammed Fuseini looks for a solution. Saint Union Gilliose started to establish themselves as the superior side as we continued to go through the second half. In the 58th minute, Loïc Lapoussin sends a cross into the box Ross Sykes gets his head on it He collides with a defender, and the ball then lands for Anan Khalaili As the Israeli talent struck the ball with purpose trying to craft it into the corner before a save is made. In the 61st minute, Noah Sadiki lays it off for Loïc Lapoussin As he strikes from distance, it ends up deflecting off of the defense before landing back in their grasp. Anan Khalaili finds a bit of space outside before sending it back into the area Mohammed Fuseini gets on the end of it as he drives his header towards the goal It ends up over the corner. They seem to be getting closer to it as the winner is so close but also so far away. In the 64th minute Denis Odoi strikes from inside the box but it is well defended as Royal Antwerp's second-half struggles continue. In the 69th minute, Saint Union Gilliose Got themselves a corner. It is driven in from The left corner flag by Loic Lapoussin As it travels across Anan Khalaili connects on the header. Driving it towards the left post Ross Sykes gets on the end of it near the bar he rises up with the header before sending it into the back of the net as Saint Union Gilliose takes the 2-1 lead. In the 72nd minute, Dennis Praet returned fire with a strike from outside the box but the defense got in the pathway of the shot again. As we got into the later stages of the second half Royal Antwerp aiming for The Equalizer still. In the 78th minute, Tjaronn Chery sent a delivery into the area Anthony Valencia gets on the end of it but unable to get the touch as it's somewhat ricochets before missing. A moment later Gyrano Kerk strikes from the 6-yard box but still unable to truly challenge Anthony Morris. In the 84th minute, he tried it again. From that side, he Spears his boot into the fabric of the ball It ends up lifting with too much power on it. Royal Antwerp continues to push in the late stages. In the 89th minute, Jelle Bataille drops a ball into the box for Vincent Janssen But his header goes high. Then in the 94th minute coming off a corner, Denis Odoi gets his head on the end of it. It comes close but not nearly good enough. Royal Antwerp gave it one last roll of the dice in the 97th minute Christopher Scott delivered a headed pass Denis Odoi struck from a distance It was very well taken as he hit it on the bounce, but it is not powerful enough to drive toward the goal as it ends up rolling into the hands of Anthony Morris as time expires. Saint Union Gilliose overcome a first-minute goal to take a 2-1 victory in Brussels ultimately.

Saint Union Gilliose pushes themselves within range of the top six with a come-from-behind victory. They currently sit 12 points behind the league leaders. However, They are level on points with sixth place Gent and now are only four points behind third place. The yellow side of Brussels has exactly torn up the league this season like they did a year ago. They have fewer wins than draws. However, after a little bit of a bumpy road, they are positioned well to be a part of the championship round. They are very unlikely to win the league as they are so many points out of first place. However, if they develop a little bit of consistency, they certainly can find themselves within the top sticks when the second portion of the season comes around. They still have 13 matches before they reach that point. However, it is very close right now and is only going to continue to be competitive throughout this part of the season. This victory should give them a big boost. Royal Antwerp came into the match in third place. They are only five points out of first place. However, that being said, the yellow side of Brussels will feel strongly about their chances to continue to improve and pick up results. They're going to need to be much more consistent than they have been to pull this off but is not out of their reach as they just need to continue to ride the course. They played very well throughout, handled the adversity, and came away with the victory. For Royal Antwerp, they were beaten close. However, they had a man advantage for a good portion of the second half and they could not capitalize on it. It is also very questionable in the manner they handle themselves. After they scored the goal. They became much more passive. Instead of hiding the level of aggressiveness. They dominated possession and mishandled their superiority. They should have gone for a second goal instead of trying to just glide. Royal Antwerp position in the league is unchanged and their possibilities of contending for the title is still well within the possibilities. However, this is a tough one to lose especially away from home. They score inside 60 seconds. Then they have a man advantage on top of the fact that they had the majority of the ball and still couldn't make anything of it. Overall they played fairly well but it was just mishandled as their management was pretty underwhelming. Overall. They're not going to be necessarily begrudging about their performance in general, but the way they lost his game they will leave this with some regret as they had an opportunity to take total control early on and they were unable to do so. As Saint Union Gilliose overcomes Royal Antwerp with a 2-1 victory at Stade Joseph Mariën.
