RheinEnergieStadion, Koln

On Wednesday night in Koln we finish up day five of the European championships with the second round of group games as we direct ourselves to group A. We have already seen Germany being Hungary and confirm their place in around the 16. On Wednesday night we could see Switzerland do the same as they match up with Scotland in Koln. Switzerland dispatched Hungary fairly easily with a 3-1 victory in their first match of the group stage. It was an incredibly impressive Open a batch as now they look to get another result that will push them that much closer to the knockout phase. Meanwhile, Scotland were absolutely ripped apart against Germany in the opening game of the tournament. It was one of the worst performances we've seen at a international tournament in quite some time. The Scots did not have a shot during the entire 90 minutes. Scotland would need a completely different type of performance to give themselves. any chance of advancing into the knockout They would need a draw at bare minimum to prevent them from being eliminated from the tournament. RheinEnergieStadion in Koln would be the setting for this clash between Scotland and Switzerland in Group A.

Switzerland was heavily expected to finish the job and take another three points off of Scotland that looked very poor in their opening match. However, Scotland appeared to have learned from their poor performance and took Switzerland slightly by surprise. It didn't take very long for Scotland to make a significant impact early on. In the 13th minute they get themselves on the break Callum McGregor pushes the ball forward on the attack. He releases a pass for Scott Mctominay, the man united midfielder unleashes a vicious effort that flies into the top corner to take a 1–0 lead. All the conversations surrounding whether or not Switzerland is right to persist with Soomer In goal would surely be brought up again as it is a very bad goal for Switzerland to concede. Not only did they show poor defensive display as Scotland pushed the balls over, but also the Inter Milan goalkeeper certainly could have done better making a better attempt to save it. However, Switzerland have been better attacking options and honestly the better team. They would have the materials and opportunities to get themselves back in it. In the 16th minute coming off the corner, the ball lands at the feet of Ricardo Rodriguez, the Torino man strikes from outside The box before nearly picking out the top right corner as Switzerland provide a warning shot to Scotland. Switzerland continuously soaked up the pressure waiting to capitalize on a steak. Although Switzerland wasn't playing particularly well, they still found their moments and took their chances. Scotland made an erratic mistake from a pass out of the back Switzerland hopped all over it. In the 26th minutes Xherdan Shaqiri Absolutely unleashed a strike from distance on a one-touch finish crushed in the top left corner. it's Switzerland to get their equalizer as the Chicago fire Striker has now scored in the last for international tournaments that he has played in. Switzerland now with the opportunity to take control after catching Scotland back with the equalizer. The Scots did have more of the ball but Switzerland have the more considerable weapons especially in Midfield and attack while Scotland will have to continue to rely on there one or two key pieces to keep the momentum going on their side. In the 32nd minute. Reuben Vargas connects with Dan Ndoye as he rips an effort from distance only to be saved by McGregor as the Scotland keeper gets his hands on it. However, despite the Swiss picking up some momentum, there was a certain energy coming from the Scots. a lot of support and big numbers in cologne trying to sway the situation. In the 38th minute as we got later into the first half Scott mctominay delivers in a ball off a free kick Jack Hendry ended up getting his head on the end of it but it drags wide past the corner. A few minutes later they would hit again in the 42nd minute. Scott mctominay on the delivery again this time Che Adams takes a strike from the Right side of the box as Sommer comes up with the save. Granit Xhaka would return fire from the right side but McGregor comes up with a safe. this would end the first half with Scotland finding themselves alive at The Euros as they hold a 1-1 with The Swiss in Koln.

Switzerland did not handle the first half very effectively. Despite capitalizing on the Scotland mistake, they look far from the team that dispatched Hungary a couple days ago. Switzerland need to find a way to put Scotland to the fire. otherwise their status in the next round will be unclear going into the final match of the group stage. Switzerland come out in the second half and very early on find a moment. Ndoye on a brilliant finish finds the back of the net as it looks as if Switzerland take a 2-1 lead. However, after review there was an offside on the play by Widmer as it is wiped off. In the 56th minute Fabian Schär delivers a ball through the air for Ruben Vargas the Augsburg Midfielder takes a stab at it from the left side but ultimately is denied by McGregor as Switzerland still looking for a winner. In the 58th minute this time Reuben Vargas connects with Dan Ndoye the Bologna midfielder takes a good look from close range. very nearly finding the back of the net but glides to the left. Switzerland continuing to have significant chances but seen keen on wasting them. In the 64th minute Reuben Vargas mishandles an opportunity as he strikes from the left side. nowhere near as McGregor isn't threatened. On a set piece in the 67th minute Scotland. very nearly ruffle some feathers Andrew Robertson delivers a ball into the box for Grant Hanley His header smashes against the post as Scotland nearly capitalized on the free kick. They kept pushing in the 74th minute on another set piece. Andrew Robinson finds Scott Mckenna but his header can't find the back of the net as it remains level in the closing stages or the second half. 2 minutes later in the 76th minute. Billy Gilmore flies through the air and connects with a header. however, he clashes into the Swiss defense as it is cleared out. Scotland really starting to pick up some momentum now. In the 81st Andrew Robertson delivers a ball for Scott mctominay His header misses to the right. In the 82nd minute Breel Embolo gets forward creating a one-on-one with the goalkeeper as he chips it into the back of the net. It looks like Switzerland had taken the lead again, but he was offsides as it was swiped again the second time, they had a potential winner wiped off. Very late on both Scotland and Switzerland had one last roll of the dice. Kenny McLean In the 87th minute strikes from distance Sommer makes the save. Then in the 90th minute Switzerland have a late free kick. It is driven in perfectly as Zeki Amdouni gets his head on the end of it in the 90th minute but drags slightly to the left as Switzerland miss a huge opportunity to take the lead in the final minutes. that would signify the end with a 1-1 draw being exchanged. Switzerland will have to wait to confirm their status for the round of 16 meanwhile, Scotland stay alive.

This turned out to be a really poor performance from Switzerland. to go down as early as they did then at no point look like they were on the verge of breakthrough was very disappointing. Switzerland did capitalize on a Scotland mistake, but outside of that they can't break through the wall. They had two goals disallowed as it was a truly brutal result for the Swiss. All Switzerland needed was to beat Scotland in Cologne. had they done what they were supposed to do they would have everything wrapped up for the knockout stage. Now they have to play Germany. the final match of this group a match. they will probably lose. hungry and Scotland is the other match. If Scotland beats Hungary, they will also have four Points. Switzerland just took everything out of their control. In a sense it is in their control cuz all they have to do is get a draw or better against Germany. however, that seems like it's going to be difficult to pull off considering how well they're flying. meanwhile, Scotland performed extremely well and scrapped a point. There's still a possibility for Scotland to make the next round. However, Hungary will still feel they have a good shot of taking them down and earning third place. At this moment nobody has been eliminated from contention to the knockout stage yet. However, Hungary will need to win to give themselves a puncher's chance as possibly a third-place finisher. Meanwhile, Scotland with a win could end up level on points with Switzerland if they lose to Germany. Soomer May not have had to deal with a calvary of opportunities from Scotland. However, the Inter Milan goalkeeper in bigger spots could be an indictment of Switzerland considering they have Kobel sitting on the bench as the number two despite being the better goalkeeper. Switzerland wasted far too many opportunities and should have won this easily. Switzerland even could have lost with the effort that hit the post from Scotland. Scotland played so much better than in their previous match against Germany. The fans will be happy with a point taken on Wednesday night as Switzerland and Scotland exchanged a point a piece In Koln setting up a very tight finish in group a Germany is through the other three. still hold out hope of a possible place in the round of 16 as Switzerland and Scotland get a goal a piece and Wednesday night's draw.
