Volkswagen Arena, Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg 2 Stuttgart 2FT

We are in the tremendous city of Wolfsburg this afternoon. Most recognizable as being the automobile city of Europe. However, there is much more that the city has to offer. Roughly 20 minutes away from the Volkswagen arena you could come across Burg Neuhaus a place Knights used to roam as well as Tierpark Essehof in southwest Wolfsburg a home of 50 different species of animals. A little closer on the drive up to the stadium are the Kunstmuseum Contemporary Modern Art Museum and Allerpark the largest park in Germany. There are so many different landmarks that make this city such and attraction plenty of things to do around the city. However, this evening we are at the Volkswagen arena in Wolfsburg for a very different purpose. As Wolfsburg host Stuttgart Wolfsburg is struggling to find their footing this season. Through the first four games of the season, They have lost on three separate occasions. Their only victory coming against Kiel. The performance early on against Bayern Munich showed a level of optimism. However, it has been really difficult this far despite upgrading some of their quality. Wolfsburg needs to get back on track, especially at home. Despite a difficult opponent pressure will only mount on Ralph if they can't get things going this season. Wolfsburg shouldn't be challenging for Europe but certainly should avoid the bottom half of the table considering what they have at their disposal. This will be a stern test as Wolfsburg will look to rebound from a tough loss against Leverkusen They have them on the ropes as well as Bayern Munich this season. Last weekend they were beaten to the death but did so to have some qualities as they have a big opportunity to show what they're capable of. Otherwise, the pressure will only increase. Stuttgart on the other hand, looks to be grooving after back-to-back victories. They sent Dortmund to the grave in a 5-1 annihilation while also beating Gladbach the week earlier. Stuttgart qualified for the Champions League this past season. They lost a lot of their pieces, however, they may have found a difference Maker in attack with Demirovic As the Bosnian has been their big threat this season Sebastian Hoeneß takes his team into the Volkswagen Arena as they are set to battle against Ralph Hasenhüttl and Wolfsburg as they are desperate for a result. Meanwhile, Stuttgart will look to make it three in a row as kickoff approaches on Saturday afternoon in Wolfsburg.

Stuttgart came out swinging as the far superior side As the Bosnian Hitman thrust into action immediately. In the 4th minute, Ermedin Demirovic Got himself in a dangerous position in front of goal. He fires an excellent effort from close range As the pole denies him Kamil Grabara comes up with the big save. To avoid an early adversity for the wolves. The strong start for Stuttgart continued In the 10th minute Fabian Rieder sent a pass for Enzo Millot he struck from distance. Fortunately, for Wolfsburg, the shot does take a deflection as the wolves get out of trouble. It was all Stuttgart for much of the early parts of the first half. They were the ones pushing the tempo looking much more dangerous than their counterparts. Somewhat ruffling the feathers of Wolfsburg. They seemed as if they were on the verge of a breakthrough. However, the polar opposite occurred. The hosts ended up fueling themselves on the counterattack. Mohamed Amoura pushes It Forward with extreme pace Jonas Wind runs into the box. The pass comes inside Jonas Wind crushes it As he whips the ball into the top left corner Wolfsburg remarkably, despite having been out late early on, takes a 1-0 lead as last season's Top scorer puts away his first goal of the season. This would open up things a little bit for Wolfsburg even if it was just temporarily. In the 28th minute, Mattias Svanberg sends a pass for Kilian Fischer As he cuts in from the left side of the box looking to pick out the corner. He misses the mark. However, it was a good sequence for Wolfsburg unfortunately a silly mistake was going to undo that just 2 minutes later. In the 30th minute, Sebastiaan Bornauw made a silly tackle on Jamie Leveling As he was going out of bounds. The referee pointed to the penalty spot. Enzo Millot drove it towards the bottom left corner Kamil Grabara made it save however Enzo Millot got the rebound as he placed it in the bottom right corner to get the equalizer. The pole was understandably frustrated after making the safe as Wolfsburg didn't react quickly enough. Stuttgart In the 39th minute continued to look far away as the better side. Ermedin Demirovic delivers a ball to the left going inside the box Maximilian Mittelstädt tries to cheekily pick out the corner but the spacing is just slightly off as he can't put them in front. 2 minutes later in the 40th minute Enzo Millot looks for range but his shot from distance ends up. Deflecting off of the Wolfsburg defense. Wolfsburg is again under pressure just barely being able to deal with it. The first half would come to a close with Wolfsburg and Stuttgart with a goal apiece.

Wolfsburg Even though they took the lead has been under pressure. Essentially the entire time. On the few occasions that they've been able to get on the counterattack, they have looked dangerous. This is the space in which they can exploit. However, outside of counter-attacking situations, they haven't gotten anything going. Meanwhile, Stuttgart has been breathing down their neck the entire time. Truly looking for an opening to establish the lead they probably deserve. As the second half began at home, Wolfsburg remained under insane pressure being issued by Stuttgart. They came out of the gate swinging as they soaked up pressure dishing out dangerous, attacking play. 3 minutes into the second half in the 48th minute Ermedin Demirovic gives it another look from distance. Once again, the defense closes down before the attempt can veer on Target. Maximilian Mittelstaedt repossesses it as he delivers a pass for Jamie Leweling hitting the follow-up but again dealing with a deflection. Although Wolfsburg got out of trouble that time, they were pinned back in their area for large stretches. Stuttgart ended up with A huge possessional advantage as they were using it to their disposal. In the 52nd minute, they win themselves a free kick. The ball was delivered by Jamie Leweling coming from the right side. Jeff Chabot ends up getting his head on the end of it. In the 55th minute. Stuttgart continued to work it against Wolfsburg. Another long-range effort from Enzo Millot Can't find its way through facing another deflection. Stuttgart has had the vast majority of the chances, but yet still finds it somewhat complicated to breach the defending on the edge of the box. It seemed as if they were rolling, however they were about to fall short-handed. Atakan Karazor issues a dangerous tackle and he is immediately given a red card by the referee. Although Wolfsburg had brought nothing to the table since the start of the second half, they took advantage of the red card shortly after. In the 68th minute, Jonas Wind sends a ball for Mohammed Amoura The Algerian gets the ball at his feet and then the rest is history. He makes an unbelievable run through the multiple Stuttgart shirts. He ends up in the box going at full speed before sending the ball into the bottom. Left corner remarkably on their first chance in the second half Wolfsburg took a 2-1 lead.

It would be the Algerian's first goal in the Bundesliga as he has had something to do with both goals scored for the home side this evening. Stuttgart was dominating Wolfsburg however somehow someway after the red card they ended up behind again. Not a true representation of the way they have played this far. However, they still have a little bit of time to grab a point if they can. Stuttgart was causing absolute chaos for Wolfsburg however, after the goal it mellowed and they weren't able to break them down as easily, especially with the disadvantage. In the 81st minute, Wolfsburg had a massive opportunity to kill it off once and for all and finally grab maximum points. Jakub Kaminski gets Wolfsburg on the counterattacks he ends up threading the ball to Baku Right in front of a goal in a prime position to kill it. He sends it over the goal in what was a horrendous miss that would have guaranteed maximum points for Wolfsburg. In the 89th minute, a ball is played into Deniz Undav As their goal-going threat looks to capitalize through the air his header is blocked by Wolfsburg. Time was running out but they kept coming. In the 95th minute, he went for it again with his strike from distance blocked from outside the box. A moment later they come very close off of the corner As the ball is delivered into Jeff Chabot his header comes close but slightly off Target. His header comes close but slightly off Target. In the 96th minute, they go through the air again El Bilal Touré Misses the goal. In the 97th minute, Stuttgart pushed the ball up the pitch for one last chance A hail mary attempt Maximilian Mittelstädt delivers a cross from the left side towards the near post Deniz Undav makes a run to the back post as he follows through on the strike Kamil Grabara couldn't do anything about it as he tries to make himself big but can't prevent the ball from slicing into the back of the net as Stuttgart get The Equalizer at the debt. The full-time whistle goes it ended 2-2 on a Saturday afternoon Thriller at Volkswagen Arena.

Wolfsburg got the carpet ripped out from underneath them in the final seconds. A brutal one to take. They were mere moments away from a huge result that would have seen them climb the table and earn their second victory of the season. That was the outcome they hoped for. Instead, they had three points dropped at the end. Even though Wolfsburg has had some difficult fixtures to start the season to only be sitting on four Points after the first four games is a pretty brutal start to the season. Wolfsburg made the Champions League in 2020. practically ever since then they have struggled significantly to keep their nose out of a relegation battle. They have finished in the bottom half of table four out of those 5 years. There was one season when they almost made Europe. Outside of that, it's been disaster out of disaster. While they never felt as if there was a realistic possibility of being relegated, they have been camping down in the bottom, half of the table, and each of those seasons. Wolfsburg brought in critical pieces Last Summer and the summer. They have changed their manager. They have done a lot to turn this thing around yet they end up in very similar situations through each season. They have responded with several good acquisitions in the summer, however it surely doesn't feel any different. Wolfsburg disappointing their fans again. They never should have been in Stuttgart. The more dominant team on Saturday. 70% possession. They had twice as many chances and constantly put pressure on Wolfsburg. Kamil Grabara had an outstanding performance in goal but they let too much fly ultimately, despite being dominated they took the lead twice and saw it disappear to lose the possibility of maximum points in the 96 minutes is beyond devastating. They never should have been involved in the situation the way they were. They probably should have been beaten easily. However, they had their moments to kill this thing away before the inevitable bit them. Baku on a near-open goal couldn't capitalize on top of it. That goes in Wolfsburg doesn't lose. He must take a shoulder of the blame considering these circumstances and how important that could have been. It's unclear where Wolfsburg is going this season but once again they are struggling and it sure does look like Deja Vu even with better players. It seems like the same old Wolfsburg. Stuttgart was excellent Even they will feel disappointed because of their inability to take control of the game in the way they would have wanted to. Wolfsburg probably ends up being the more disappointed However, the visitors had all the opportunity to kick them in the mouth and send them into Oblivion considering the level of domination. Just getting a point from that will be mildly disappointing. However, overall Stuttgart will feel very happy with the situation. They concede too many goals, however they are scoring them. It could be a balancing act. It's something that they'll have to keep an eye on as things progress, but it seems like the issues from earlier this season have been slightly sorted out as they looked very strong despite the result. In the end. It turned out to be a thriller at Wolfsburg as they are forced to split with Stuttgart in a four-goal Thriller as Deniz Undav delivers The Equalizer at the death.
