Star Wars is a story for all generations, but Disney and Lucasfilm have been wise in understanding that not everyone will have the same entry point into the galaxy far, far away. Which is why there have been several books published specifically for a younger market, introducing them to some of the best of what Star Wars has to offer. The latest children’s story is written by Preeti Chhibber and illustrated by Mike Deas. It’s called A Jedi You Will Be, and it combines the wisdom of Master Yoda from all of the Skywalker Saga films he’s appeared in and frames this wisdom in the context of Luke’s training to be a Jedi on Dagobah.

Each page presents a new lesson for children to learn about what it means to be a Jedi and invites us to watch Luke as he learns these important lessons. The illustrations bring these lessons to life in a vivid way.

What I found most refreshing about this book is the admiration Yoda has for Luke as a student, which isn’t something we pick up from the films, though this book makes it seem perfectly real. It’s a lighthearted book about weighty lessons, so it’s bound to be positive, but not in way that’s outside of the scope of a typical Star Wars story. It is instead a refreshing take on Luke’s training…
