Yay! We would love to see a submission from you! Please see below for the guidelines on how to contribute.

What do we publish?

The two main rules are that the content has to be funny and the diaspora of the world has to be able to relate to it.

We only accept fully fleshed out pieces so, please don’t pitch us an idea. We also do not submit previously published pieces. Lastly, we do not submit anything that punches down because it’s lazy.

There are also 3 different sections (fictions, headlines, and personal essays) you can pitch to, so please read the submissions processes for each of them carefully:

Fiction

We accept all styles of fictional writing, including satirical news, listicles, poems, etc. If you have a style you don’t see on our blog, go ahead and submit it. To submit a fiction piece, please do the following:

  1. If you do not have a Medium account, please create one. Additionally, please make sure you are a part of the Medium Partner Program so that if your work is published, you can earn money based on the amount of reads. It’s free to be part of the program.
  2. Create a story draft. Click the three dots in the upper right hand corner and click “share draft link”.

3. In an email to tfbsubmissions@gmail.com please send:

  • The draft link
  • Your social media links (Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook)
  • Where you/your family is from just because we are curious :)
  • In the subject line, please include which section you’re pitching for and the title (FICTION: TITLE)

4. That’s it! Make sure to connect with us on social media so that if you’re published, we are able to tag you and promote your work.

If you have a funny joke that you can’t make a full piece out of, feel free to pitch it to our Headlines/One-liners section. To submit a headline, please do the following:

  2. In a Medium draft, put the headline as the title and the picture in the body of the draft. (If you need to find high quality free stock images, we recommend sites like Pixabay, Pexels, Unsplash, Stocksnap, etc.)
  3. Click the three dots in the upper right hand corner and click “share draft link”.

3. In an email to tfbsubmissions@gmail.com please send:
