Would you leave your big house to build a tiny one?

Is there a reason why most people’s dreams are to live in a big home with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a nice big kitchen and livingroom? All that really isn’t necessary. Tiny homes are less expensive than traditional homes in terms of taxes, energy use and maintenance, and are often built on wheels, adding an additional benefit of mobility.

. Lets spend $349,400.00 on a house or we could spend $25,000 to $35,000 to build a tiny house. That is more than 9 times cheaper to build a tiny home than to buy an average sized home in the United States. Not to mention there is no mortgage!

Of course, a tiny home buyer sacrifices square footage for price. As one tiny homeowner explains:

“You don’t have to have the 4,000-square-foot mansion anymore. It’s a different idea of the American dream.” —Jenna, Tiny House Giant Journey

.

Cutting down the size of your home already is environmentally efficient, having less space to heat and cool down. While building your own tiny home you have every option to chose what kind of energy efficient product you want for your home such as- solar powered products, low-flow water appliances and LED lighting. Even just having two. large windows on either side of your home makes it easier for heat to come into your home.

. Tiny living is allowing you to get back to the basics because we didn’t always have these big homes that everyone lives in today. Once upon a time we live off of our essentials. Many tiny homeowners have stated that their quality of life and their happiness has improved when they returned to the basics, when they decluttered their lives.

Having so much space means you can fill all of that space with things you don’t really need- need being the key word here. If you are living in less than 1,000 square feet your space is limited and you need to be smart on your purchases. Which also mean you get to be creative with decorating you tiny house.

Get creative! There are so many different ways you can design the layout of your tiny house. It is most definitely a more organized way of living, having to cut down on all the stuff you have and declutter all your life. You don’t have a whole lot of room to be unorganized.

Not feeling weighed down is a benefit that comes along with owning a tiny home. You don’t have all this stuff tied to you or a mortgage weighing you down. Also your home is on wheels, you can pick up and move anywhere you could ever imagine.

.

Being able to visit all of the beautiful places you have dreamt about go to visit would not be just a dream, having your tiny home on wheels makes it so much easier. Go visit Antelope Canyon in Arizona or Watkins Glen State Park in New York. You have no limits. And home is where you house is.

TIny home owner Mario Soto who built his own tiny home exclaims that:

“I would love to do a few months in different states … those main spots that you normally would only go for a week or do or a few days, I want to go there for a few months because I can, and really enjoy it.”

But I am curious how many people could actually make the move. Perhaps reading this made you curious about tiny living but you’ll forget about it as you move onto the next contemporary issue.
