If you find real help within my words, my labor is not in vain.

’Tis the season to be — thankful. The season to be jolly is almost upon us (my wife already has 4 Christmas trees up and 1 more to go), but I believe we jump ahead too soon and forget to be thankful for all we have.

A mentor and friend from long ago said frequently, “Our first step away from God is when we become unthankful.” Whether you are religious or not, becoming unthankful is the first step that leads down a road no one should venture to travel.

Our first step away from God is when we become unthankful.

Unthankful people are harsh, vindictive, jealous, and never satisfied. They will never know the peace of contentment.

This Thanksgiving holiday, as I privately reviewed the many things for which I am thankful, I settled on considering my current career as a full-time freelance writer. I am in my second year of freelancing full-time. After writing earlier about what I learned after the first year, it’s time to reflect on how thankful I am to be doing this for a living.
