I AM A FOOTBALL FREESTYLER
Not a footballer with skills, not a juggler, not a street football player, I am a football freestyler.
Before I begin, I want to tell you that the phrase ‘I am a football freestyler’ is a freestyle movement begin by Daniel Rooseboom de Vries in 2010 and it is the best source where you can find anything and everything about freestyle football.

So, although all the credits for this phrase belong to them, I here want to talk about something that is not related to their page but actually to the general idea of people related to this phrase.

So generally when someone asks about who we are, we reply with full confidence that ‘I am a football freestyler’.
But after that, a very common question follows.
- Do you also play football?
OR
- Do you used to play football?
Or sometimes a comment is made like,
- You must be an awesome football player.
Somehow we succumb to such vexatious questions and reply in affirmative. Yes sir! We used to/still play football and got into these art after watching a few YouTube videos.
I don’t know about you guys but majority of the people (myself included) also give the exact same answer when asked the related question.
Now the answer give you may be true to your personal self. But let me explain what impact this leaves to the person asking the question.
When they hear that you were a football player in the past, they think that we are failed footballers that took to the art of juggling a football because our football careers did not take off. Also they start associating freestyle football to the field sport of football. Which honestly I don’t see any connection with.
But it is not the people’s fault that they are think such things about our beautiful sport.
It’s Yours!
Why are we people so skeptical about the fact that we are a football freestyler?
Why can’t we just freely say NO! Just because there is a football involved does not mean that I am/was necessarily a football player.
Freestyle football is a sport that requires twice as much as dedication and hard work as a normal football player. It is not easy to do. If it was, there would not have been a handful of us in the entire world!
Stop giving a dubious reply to people of how you are associated with freestyle football.
Feel pride in being a football freestyler. Let people know that you are a hardworking person that has found love for an art that is so beautiful yet extremely difficult to master, not a flop football player who just juggles the ball around.
Freestyle football is something whose true spirit should be shown and carried on to others who are watching us anywhere. Let them know who you are. Let them know about freestyle football.
Next time anyone asks you that “question” again —
