The light is strong, and the man is weak. Stumbling down the road while headlights blind him, he falls.

The car stops, and the driver checks on the man.

“He’s drunk,” he says.

“Let’s take him to a shelter. He could probably use a little bit of sympathy,” she says.

The Backstory:

Since my car radio is broken, I put Apple Music on shuffle and took the first line from the first three songs that came on. I got three excellent choices for prompts:

“I’ll keep working my way back to you, Babe.” — Working My Way Back To You by The Spinners

“The light is strong, and the man is weak.” — A Little Bit Of Sympathy by Robin Trower

“Do you believe in magic?” — Do You Believe In Magic? by The Lovin’ Spoonful

I could have used any of three and probably came up with a decent storyline. But the poetic lyrics of A Little Bit Of Sympathy won me over. I immediately envisioned a man walking down the road with headlights shining on him.

A weary desert traveler would have been another option.

I decided to use the title of the song also, and stuck with the road story.

I am a fan of any music-related prompts. So this one was a pleasure. Thanks, Justin.
