A rat scurried by the stairs. Throwing my suitcase on the bed evicted used condoms from the mattress. The ceiling shook with the sound of strangers sending nothing to my mind.

I called the manager about the rat. He retorted, “Where did you expect to see him? Taking the elevator?”
