Pedro and his family trudged across the rocky, dry desert to the border of the United States. Having overcome sickness, scorpions, and rattlesnakes in their quest for asylum, they had arrived. Slipping through a crack in the border’s wall, paradise awaited them on the other side. Cleanliness. Silence. Freedom. Hope.
