Louisiana Sun
“I’m sorry we won’t make it this year,” Dana said.
“Too hot anyways,” Peg graveled through cigarette smoke. “Louisiana sun gonna scorch us all.”
Dana scraped the bottom of a shortening can.
“Goddammit,” she said in a scratchy whisper.
“What is it, Dana?”
“I ain’t makin’ no cherry cobbler today.”
Justin Deming Thank you. This story was inspired by Leon Bridges’ Lisa Sawyer. I listened to the song and focused in on the lyric Louisiana sun to write my story.
