Sylvia lived in a one-room shack on the sketchy edge of town. She resided there with her soulmate Frank, who worked like a dog in the cotton fields.

They never had much money, yet they had so much love and respect for each other, they got by just fine.

Based on a line from Lisa Sawyer, my story is prompted from a line in the song…”Never had much money.”

I’ve been reading a lot of stories by, or about black people in the south lately. “Beloved”, by Toni Morrison, “The Help”, by Kathryn Stockett…they have been so wonderful and the writing incredible. It makes me remember where I’m from in Mississippi and kind of long for simpler times.

Now for a fun listen to the song my story title made me think of:

Enjoy!!
