Jasper’s skull grinned maniacally from atop the spell books on which he had deposited it last November first. The pits from which eyes had gazed in life shone in the candlelit room.

Reaching with limbs stiff from disuse he grasped it, placing it upon his skeletal neck. Halloween had arrived.
