The kingfishers bicker amongst themselves atop the electrical post.
A pause — the world rumbles beneath them in protest.
Silently, the bird listen.
The trees listen.
The skies listen.
Even the gods listen as they watch over their children, aggrieved, moving as a living prayer would, one that cannot go unanswered.
