Wasting Time

I’m sun-drunk, sticky from berry wine coolers. Seagulls scream, this loneliness won’t leave me alone.

I wait as soft sand burns my toes, sea breezes prickle my skin. I weep, eyelids swell with sharp agony.

I see him in a cloud, then the sky becomes flames and he melts away.
