Worksmith News
Worksmith has just ticked over 4 months since swinging open its doors. So far we have seen a huge mix of people work in the space from wine and beer distributors, to spirit producers, graphic designers, food writers and tech companies, just to name a few. Whilst our members differ vastly in their day to day work life, we all have the commonality of working in the hospitality industry in some way.

As we grow, our event schedule is becoming more diverse than just your average co-working space. We have played host to product launches, wine, beer and spirit tastings and starting next month, will add more business development programming to the schedule. This will include talks and workshops from branding to copywriting, as well as graphic design and social media strategy.

For the last few weeks we have also begun our W.I.N.E (Worksmith, Innovation, Networking, Empowerment) meetings for our members. This is a space for our members to share their current projects and difficulties. Members are then linked up with each other to help solve some of these issues and speed up the process of problem solving.

Whilst we have just over 40 members now part of our community, we hope to double this within the next 3 months. This will increase the value we can bring to any individual that works in the space by providing even more events and networking opportunities in the space.

A huge thank you to the early adopters of Worksmith, without you we wouldn’t be where we are today!

Event: General Assembly Bridging the Talent Gap
With the industry booming and fresh talent flooding the job market daily, the gap between education and employment has never been more evident. How can managers mentor junior and new hires to maximum effectiveness in the hospitality, retail and tech industries?

Hiring talent can be daunting. Junior and new talent as a whole may have uneven skill sets that are buried behind portfolios and CVs that all look the same. Once hired, managers often don’t know what these people are capable of or how to foster their success. Companies often wing it when it comes to growing their staff, to the detriment of employee productivity, retention and ultimately product quality.

Luckily, there is a better way! Join Scout Jobs and GA and hear from industry professionals in the hospitality, retail and tech world to hear them discuss their approaches for bringing on talent, while keeping business constraints in mind. You will leave with new skills, tools, and a passion to invest in the future of your teams.
