Welcome to the The Front Desk by Worksmith.
A weekly wrap up of what is happening in food, drinks and beyond.

Collated by Michael Bascetta (Worksmith, Bar Liberty & Grow Assembly)

Event: Melbourne Knowledge Week Spotlight
Supply & Demand: Fresh Produce Markets in Melbourne

Melbourne is spoilt for choice and has access to world-class fresh produce markets — so how do they shape food consumption in our city? These places are some of our favourite cultural landmarks and form a big part of our city’s history, but when convenience is a factor, habits are tough to shake. Come and hear about how the food sales system fits together, the trends for buyers and what’s next for Melbourne’s markets.

Hear from Fiona Whitworth (Queen Victoria Market), Miranda Sharp (Collingwood Children’s Farm Market) & Morgan Ranieri (YourGrocer).

Tickets are free, reserve your spot here.

Worksmith News: New Members!
We are very excited to have Four Pillars move into Worksmith and set up their Melbourne sales and marketing team in our space. Safe to say that our back bar is now stocked with the full range of gins!

Eat: Fish Butchery
Since Saint Peter opened it has been spoken about the world over, with coverage reaching The New York Times early this year, where Besha Rodel speaks to the rarity of this style of restaurant; ‘I have been racking my brain trying to think of an American restaurant that comes close to the inventiveness and deep consideration that seafood is afforded at Saint Peter, to no avail.’

Fish Butchery is just a few doors down from Saint Peter and its focus is on delivering the same incredible seafood to the retail market. They are also cooking up their version of fish and chips out of the new space.

Listen: Hard Talks Made Easier
We have all found ourselves avoiding hard conversations until it is absolutely neccesary to have them, resulting in the issues becoming more problematic than they once were.

Listen in to make those conversations just that little bit easier.
