Frugal innovation resources

Why innovation methods and frameworks are overrated

--

To foster frugal innovation and solve wicked problems, it’s essential to cultivate an environment that embraces constraints as opportunities for creativity.

Undertanding the problem is the beginning of undertanding the paradox and the problem to solve.

To inspire innovation and make it personally meaningful, a clear vision and values are essential.

This entails establishing a dedicated space for innovation, experimentation, idea generation, and optimization. It’s crucial to strike a balance between exploration and execution.

Building a community is vital for sensemaking and uncovering emergent solutions or behaviors through participatory methods. This community should be equipped to measure the innovation process, its maturity, and its impact. This includes funding mechanisms to scale innovation and reward systems to incentivize it.

Recognizing the four archetypes of innovators (The king who sets the vision and aligns resources, the Warrior or the doer that experiments, the magician engineer and problem solver and the Lover the facilitator of collective inteligence and empathetic human centered design) and aligning their capabilities with organizational value chains and innovation spaces helps unlock the human capital for value engineering.

Finally, cultivating a culture of effectuation is crucial for innovating under constraints, uncertainty and an ever evolving objective.

Then come the creative problem solving tools and innovation methods !
