Hand in Hand — Technology and Law

Law and technology produce, together, a kind of regulation of creativity we’ve not seen before — Lawrence Lessig. In my opinion, this quote says it all, it exemplifies the fact that when technology is mixed with the law it will create a different level of creativity which helps the law.

Society of AI, a community, which uses Medium to promote AI, quoted “The law contacts each side of the business world. For all intents and purposes everything that organizations do — deals, buys, associations, mergers, rearrangements — they do by means of lawfully enforceable agreements (AI). This quote states that Law is a vast field, it reaches to all corners of the Business World. Everything from deals, purchases, associations or partnerships, mergers, and rearrangements has to be done via Law. In my opinion, the author here is reinforcing the fact that how Law is important and what are the uses of the same. At the same time, the author is foreshadowing how technology will make Law more efficient. This is exemplified by this quote “Here are some examples of legal tasks AI can automate. legal research and due diligence, predict legal outcomes AI has the ability to store years’ worth of legal data and can sift through it all to tell lawyers their chances of winning relevant cases (AI). The author is telling how AI is helping the law and making extensive changes to lawyers on their winning chances. The quote further manifests less human force will be required to do some tasks which are taken care of by AI:

• Research about certain legalities
• Predict the outcomes of certain cases
• Store data which can be used for later cases
• Tell lawyers their chances of winning

The author states another quote that backs the quote used previously, “Review documents and contracts AI “can review documents and flag them as particular to a case. Once a certain type of document is denoted as relevant, machine learning algorithms can get to work to find other documents that are similarly relevant” (AI). The author simplifies the point about how Machine Learning is also used with AI to help lawyers find relevant documents for the case which will ease down their work to focus on more important points.

The author has outlined important points about how AI can help law and help people win cases and provide the justice which they need. Over and above, this means that Technology is used everywhere and it’s a boon to the entire World. It has extensive amounts of uses including help people be punished or given the right justice.
