The Convenience of Commuting
The Convenience of Commuting
When you think of UBER, a company which is turning things upside down not because they are running a lot of advertisements, it’s because someone took out their mobile phone and said to their friend, watch this, and pressed a button and a car pulled up — Seth Godin. Technology has developed itself a lot in the past few decades. Don’t you think life before UBER was filled with awkward moments including your parents dropping you off, you being a designated driver, or running out of fuel? Truly Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp, founders of UBER, have impacted our day to day lives in some kind of ways.
A view of UBER is economically safe as well as convenient to their customers
I come from Mumbai, a city which never sleeps, I have seen firsthand transition from my friends driving to their college with their cars to taking UBER thus saving time and money both. From parents dropping their kids to their schools straight to booking a ride with a click of a button, UBER has changed a lot.
UBER’s Survey in Mumbai
UBER conducted a survey in Mumbai which resulted that more than 70 percent of UBER drivers were satisfied by the overall driving experience of UBER, thus further increasing by 20 percent of jobs. UBER has helped numerous amounts of people with jobs thus contributing towards the global economy. In a way, technology has opened new doors to people by giving them jobs.
UBER’s Impact on Society and Workplace
A newly released study by the Economic Development Research Group (EDR Group) has resulted that the gross revenue of UBER’s drivers and delivery partners totaled to $12.9 billion. This further implements that out of 10 drivers asked randomly 9 out of those use UBER as their primary source of income. Two things which employees demand from any job are:
- Safety- UBER is giving safety in terms of transactions being cashless so the drivers don’t have to face unpaid fares or need to carry cash for returns.
- Flexibility — Unlike the normal taxi/yellow cab drivers, UBER drivers don’t have to work for regular 12hour long shifts, they can work their own time and connivance thus tilting the points towards UBER.
UBER has been also the reason for many people to get jobs because the employees are happy and thus work more efficiently and productively. As the world is getting technologically advanced UBER has impacted the workplace by giving people jobs and generating higher revenue, therefore making a win-win situation for everyone. At last, UBER didn’t kill the taxi business, limited access and fare control did. The technology wasn’t the disruptor it was not being customer centric which hindered their business.
