The Future of Design Education Pt. 13
UXing A Book
As mentioned in a previous post, my next side venture will include the writing on the topic of the future of design Education. The process will be fully documented — I am treating this work as yet another UX project — as I imagine the perspective of researching >> gleaning insights from industry professionals and new budding designers will serve me well.
The First Step
As I enter into this work, I will remain transparent in my documentation — there will inevitably be a setback or two, but of course as the profession of UX goes, this project is bigger than myself, namely because it is not for me — it is for a target audience I assume will find great value in reading.
My observation for why this book should exist (Note: the following is in draft phase — written in a single flow state of consciousness)
Hypothesis (Context Statement)
As new designers enter the workforce, there is a growing pressure to upskill + add proficiencies and experience to their CV. Due to the nature of this pressure, budding designers often overlook or are not aware of the impact and consequence of their designs.
Assumptions
- Young designers are eager to learn the skills necessary to land a job — MVP
- Budding designers lack the mentorship to lead with creative confidence
- Current design education falls short of arming new designers with the frameworks, mindsets, values, impact, techniques/methods to powerfully ignite the next generation to lead with full influence.
Problem Statement
How might we arm/prepare the next generation of design leaders with the frameworks, mindsets, values, perspectives, techniques and methods necessary to solve the worlds most pressing challenges all while doing so with a humanistic frame of mind?
