Today, holograms are widely used to create a 3D lifelike display. Unfortunately, it is not the easiest to create holograms that produce color. The method we currently use to generate these colored holograms is placing 3 single colored, or monochromatic, holograms in a line, and allowing light to pass through. When the light hits each hologram, convolutions, or spirals are created. The intensity of the light of each hologram is unequal, which in turn produces a discolored image.

This study tests a new method that was proposed to try and develop a dynamic color histogram for a hologram display. A dynamic color histogram is the way the distribution of colors in an image are presented. With the production of display technologies such as your flat screen tv, dynamic color histograms, which provide color to such displays, have been attracting popular interest and research in the world. The method that was used was coding, which is basically transforming human language into language and commands that a computer or device can understand. Coding is used to develop software and different types of programs. According to the colorimetric principle, a color object is able to be split up into 3 primary color objects. A color object is simply the color of an object which is produced from wavelengths of light that it reflects. Based on the behavior of each primary color object, that data is then coded based off of the relationship between the objects and their hologram image display. This study was proven to be a success by using the method of coding to generate colored holograms.

Three Monochrome Images

There are a few ways coding offered solutions to the previous method’s problems. One problem the previous method faced was when trying to produce multiple holograms, one displaying the color red. The red hologram will cover over and blend into the display of other holograms. Coding is able to produce 3 single colored holograms at the same time using light that is joined together at different regions of a plane. This joint light evenly lights up the 3 separate colored holograms. Another problem is when recording using the optical method, it is not always convenient to code the information regarding the hologram. With the new method, they use computer generated holograms which was more efficient.

This study proves the experiment method of using coding to develop high quality colored holograms as true. These findings will be very beneficial in the future and will open a door to a world full of opportunities.
