Introduction
Over the years we have witnessed the harmful effects that plastic and other wastes have had on our environment, especially in our oceans. The world continuously produces products and resources that could not be properly disposed of and do not have the capability to biodegrade. Debris found in our bodies of water injure and kill marine life and pose a threat to human health. Decades of waste buildup has become a severe issue in the most recent years and we have seen a change begin to take form in the removal and prevention of this type of pollution.
In this blog, I will be focusing on the technologies being produced to help solve this problem and the effect these machines and ideas will have on the future of businesses and the workplace. For example, I will be looking into how certain companies will try to decrease their production of plastic or change the material of their products into a more environmentally friendly material. Some questions that I will be answering will include what kind of marine life will benefit from these technologies, how we can improve materials as to not become a danger to our environment, and lastly, how costly would these projects be and how it will affect not only producers but consumers as well.
This topic is one that really interests me. Most of the time that I open social media, I come across a video or picture of animals that are harmed by our own actions. I am an avid animal lover so this breaks my heart to see. I am hoping this blog will reach out to others who feel the same way and who are interested in what the future may bring to this global problem.
It might take five years or even fifty years to see a real change being made to our environment. However, we don’t have to wait until it is 2050, we can start now! We can be conscious of what product we purchase and whether or not we can recycle or re-purpose them. Inform your friends and family on ways to reduce their plastic purchases; ask for paper bags instead of plastic next time you go grocery shopping.
