Within the last year, countless outlets have reported on the shortage of healthcare workers in the US, specifically registered nurses, and what that means for the future of patients, healthcare workers and the agencies who place them.

Technology has been cited as a way to help deal with these shortages, whether through patient facing technology like voice activated assistants, or better workforce management and deployment through mobile apps.

Trusted Health, a mobile app that “makes it easy for nurses to connect with flexible job opportunities”, recently announced a $20 million dollar raise to help them sustain the significant momentum the platform has seen since it launched. Within their first quarter of operation alone there were nearly 250,000 positions viewed through the platform.

The app, run by tech veterans and nurses, says it adds 1,000 nurses every week to its workforce. These are 1,000 nurses every week forgoing staffing agencies and getting matched to jobs directly through the app.

Why are they leaving agencies for Trusted Health?

The platform promises flexibility and a better candidate experience, while citing “antiquated and inefficient recruiting processes” as a reason that nurses miss out on quality, timely positions. The app allows them to choose where, why and how they want to work, ensuring they get matched with the best positions and fast.

With such a tight candidate market, candidate experience cannot be overlooked. And in its first months of operation, Trusted Health has proven that empowering nurses through mobile technology can make a significant impact on how they get placed for work.

If healthcare staffing agencies hope to remain competitive, it’s time to start considering mobile solutions that provide nurses and healthcare workers with the control and flexibility they seek.
