Tadpole Treble is a rhythm game, developed by Bitfinity Games, which consists of Matthew and Michael Taranto. It is about a sentient tadpole with great musical hearing named Baton trying to get back home to its frog parents (Well, that’s one thing off my bucket list).

One thing that makes it stand out is that it was originally made not for PC, but for the Wii U. And if the Wii U version is just as good as the Steam version, then Tadpole Treble deserves to be on a Nintendo console. But why is it so good? Glad you asked. Roll the pros and cons!

The pros

  • Tadpole Treble looks really good.
  • The game manages to create challenging levels and great music at the same time (obstacles also act as notes)
  • Not one level feels the same.
  • The pearls can unlock some extras, like a music player or biographies of all the game’s characters, which add up to the replayability.
  • An intuitive, yet not too simple level editor.
  • Some of the tracks have lyrics, which means that the Tranato brothers aren’t messing around.

The cons

  • Despite there being a level editor, there is no Workshop support, you have to scan the song’s QR code instead.
