Joan is a pretty average woman who does things we normally do. She’s confused, her life is full of mess, and sometimes she can be awful. She’s just like us, except she can’t keep her life private like everyone else. Suddenly she discovers her life is being aired on Streamberry, a satiric version of Netflix, in a show “Joan is Awful” starring Salma Hayek.

In no time, her life crumbles apart. She can’t go anywhere without being glared at.

Starring Annie Murphy as Joan, Black Mirror’s first episode of season 6, “Joan is Awful,” raises many unsurprisingly relatable questions. Like most of us, Joan didn’t read the terms and conditions of Streamberry during signing up, which gave the streaming platform the right to show her every detail of her private life available to the public.

This article isn’t about Joan or how our privacy is at risk. We know all that, and we sacrificed our data and privacy the very moment we signed up for any popular social media. It’s rather about stunning Salma Hayek.
