“Color is a power which directly influences the soul.”
— Wassily Kandinsky

From the vivid shades of the Renaissance to the striking contrasts of the Baroque period, artists have used color to communicate a diverse array of meanings and messages.

Using color for artistic expression is becoming all the more interesting now with Generative Art, as Midjourney is making it possible to explore color in new and imaginative ways.

The following are some techniques that use color in magical ways, borrowing from the traditional forms of color and synthesizing new compositions.

In these examples, I kept the subject matter simple to emphasize the use of the color technique.

Color With Texture

When color is combined with texture, it can create a rich, tactile effect that adds depth and complexity.

One of the textures I like to use is a traditional technique called Impasto, where the paint is applied in thick, textured layers, creating a three-dimensional effect on the surface.
