Is India still a democratic country?

Yes, India is still a democratic country. But it is slowly following the path of dictatorship.

I will provide you with some evidence to explain why I believe India is on the path to dictatorship.

Evidence 1

In a democratic country, the media and press have the freedom to ask questions to any political party or rulling party. Media is also called the fourth pillar of democracy.

But today, our mainstream media did not have the guts to ask questions to the central government.

For example: All the people of Ladakh are protesting. BJP wrote in their 2019 manifesto that they would give 6th schedule in which ladakh peolpe get their own legislature . But when BJP won the election and Ladakh people asked for the promise that Prime Minister Modi made to the Ladakh people, BJP denied doing that.

And for 21 days, Ladakh people are on a hunger strike. But not a single mainstream media channel talks about this, and they have not even asked BJP ministers about Ladakh.

Ladakh people are also protesting to stop the mining and cutting of trees in Ladakh because it badly affects the beauty of Ladakh.

Evidence 2

In a democratic country, opposition parties have the right to ask questions to the ruling party. But right now, many opposition party leaders are arrested in a fake money laundering case before the weeks of Lok Sabha elections.

Like Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia.

And it is also affecting the reputation of India in the global world. The UN and USA have also raised questions about the undemocratic activities in India.

Evidence 3

In a democratic country, all institutions are free. They can freely perform their functions without any interference from the government.

But right now, most of the institutions are becoming puppets of the central government, like the ED (Enforcement Directorate) and the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation).

And the Election Commission, the institution which conducts the elections in India, is also facing many problems.

Many peolpe raise questions about the hacking of Evm .

Many people raise questions about the hacking of EVMs. The Supreme Court of India is also asking questions about EVMs to the Election Commission.

How can we say that India is a democratic country when most of the institutions and media are becoming puppets of the BJP?

Evidence 4

Protest

In a democratic country, people have the right to do a peaceful protest for injustice or for their rights.

But right now, if anyone tries to do a peaceful protest, the central government uses the media to portray the protester as an anti-Indian.

If you are Sikh and you are protesting for farmers' rights, then you become a Khalistani. If you are a student who is protesting against inflation or unemployment, then you become anti-Indian. By chance, if you are Muslim and you protest against injustice, the media declares you as Pakistani.

What can we do to save India from the becoming the dictatorship country ?

  1. Raise voice : we all are writers. We can ask questions and raise our voices through writing .
  2. Vote : please vote. Your one vote can save the democracy. And encourage other people to vote.
  3. Spreading awareness : Spread awareness about What is happening in India to your family and friends.

Conclusion

I did not support any political party i know that all party are corrupt. But what is bjp or central government is doing it is totally undemocratic. It is affecting many peolpe life.

Thank you for reading.
