1. Introduction

What comes to mind when you think of Israel?

For many, influenced by media portrayals, the immediate images might be of deserts or conflicts.

Yet, much like a flower blooming in the desert, Israel is undergoing a technological revolution within its modest borders. In fact, Israel is recognized as a leading “Startup Nation.”

But why has this country emerged as a global leader in startups?

The answer lies in the creativity and adventurous spirit of the Israeli people, combined with a national curiosity towards innovation.

In fact, Israel boasts the highest number of startups per capita in the world, with over 2,000 startups. Considering Israel’s population of approximately 9 million, this is a staggering figure.

Over the past decade, there has been a surge in Israeli startups achieving international success. For instance, the navigation app “Waze” was acquired by Google in 2013 for over a billion dollars.

Furthermore, “Mobileye,” a company specializing in autonomous driving technology, was acquired by Intel in 2017 for $15.3 billion.

These success stories highlight the robustness of Israel’s startup ecosystem.
