OCCASIONS

Work (option to remove or keep the beanie on once indoors), art gallery opening, running errands on a sunny Saturday, job interview (remove the beanie for this one), formal intimate dinner party, bar patio at night.

VIBE

A skater kid that grew up — kept the punk attitude and got rid of their Hot Topic loyalty program membership. Doesn’t smile if they don’t want to but if they do, you know you have earned it. Powerful. Surprising that all these colors can come together and look serious. Equally surprising this entire dope outfit is all from J. Crew.

DO’S / DON’TS

Suits are a great investment, especially one that is simultaneously colorful and professional. It transitions from parties to the workplace very easily. Do take advantage of this spectrum by what you wear under the suit. Blazer alone with no top is powerfully playful. Lacy bralette showing through is flirty functionality. Crew necks are 90s non-gendered. And all the way up mock necks are artsy asymmetric.

STYLING

This outfit benefits greatly from structure — tailored suit, stiffer jacket, and straight collar. In this with this theme, your hair should have a structure or distinct purposeful shape to it. Any curl type 3b and below, straighten. Any curl type above that, exaggerate the volume as much as possible to the top and sides. No matter what, avoid too much hair overlap with the shoulders because from the neck down, the outfit gets busy enough.
