The Gist
On January 21, 2015 a massive swell produced some of the largest waves at a popular Hawaiian surf spot nicknamed “Jaws”. This video captures big-wave surfer Albee Layer & friends as in both the lead up and the main action of the historic day.
The Gem
Pretty much the entire video. It’s a visually stunning portrayal.
Why I Chose this
I am a big fan of watching others expertly perform their craft. Having surfed a little bit myself, I can better appreciate the impossible level of skill and courage it takes to ride waves this large and fierce. Additionally, the videography is also well crafted. Editing, music selection, composition and shot framing are all well done.
